Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. Thankfully, I’ve been blessed with many special days. I honestly can’t pick the best one for certain but it would between the day my daughter was born and the day I married my wife. Here’s a quick story about a recent special day though. As many, maybe most of you know I left ATF as a whistleblower. It was ugly and I figured I’d just move on past law enforcement, collect my pension hen I was old enough and work back in the engineering field until I was ready to retire. I decided ultimately that I missed law enforcement and ultimately that I had unfinished business and wanted to show I could still perform at a high level. I unsuccessfully ran for sheriff of my county and ultimately started to come to the conclusion that my career in LE likely was over forever and I’d have to live with leaving behind unfinished business. Well, an opportunity presented itself clear across the country. A very unique opportunity that would put me back in LE, and even better concentrating on the things I’m most passionate about - bomb tech work and explosives, along with fire investigation. I decided to give it a shot and see what happened. I’m still trying to figure out the exact plans for the future, but last Monday my unit of 5 in an agency of 12,000 members, along with all of the units members specifically were awarded the Director’s award from my agency for outstanding performance that far exceeded what anyone expected. It was very special to me because I felt like I closed out that unfinished business, demonstrated that I’m still able to perform at the top of my game and proved a bunch of naysayers wrong. August 24 1997 was my most special day because my first son was born. He was 7 weeks pre-mature, but turned out to be healthy. He's now married and has given me my first grandson. | |||

369 days ago my wife began a series of hospitalizations and procedures that tested her resolve. After one malady was taken care of another popped up. She is now slated for radiation treatment for breast cancer after a successful lumpectomy. For 45 years we have been a team and supported one another. She was by my side during my cancer treatments and Ive been by her side during her trying year. With all we have gone through, I consider each day a special day as I still have the blessing of being with her. | |||

November 24, 1989. While cruising Main Street at the age of 17, I saw the most beautiful girl I had ever seen in my life riding in her sister's Caprice Classic (she was 16 at the time). By the end of the night, she had jumped into my Jeep and took a couple of laps with me. Before getting out to return to her friends, she gave me her number. A week later we went on our first date. April 5, 1994. I had just started working in a research lab the day before, and I needed to weigh some extracts on our neighboring department's analytic scale. The lead researcher was very particular about her scale being clean and proceeded to inform me of every way I had to clean the area to be allowed to use it. I don't remember much of what she said as I was thunderstruck. I knew this was the woman I was going to marry. And that's just what happened and we've been marred over a quarter century now. If you like religion, laws or sausage, then you shouldn't watch them being made. | |||

At 62 years “young” I’ve been blessed enough to have a LOT of special days over the years. The most recent one would be this past Friday when my wife and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary. Particularly special because it is our first wedding anniversary celebrated as officially retired with no looming dramas hanging over our head waiting for resolution. Essentially unencumbered and ready for the next (final?) chapter of our life together. For the first time in a long while, where all of life’s pursuits have arrived at the same time. We are both in good health, comfortably situation, and for the first time in a while we feel comfortable “hoping” for a better future for our country. Thank you for the opportunity at one of your generous karmas, and thank you for giving me a reason to stop and think about the things I have been blessed with and am thankful for. One of these days I might actually win but if not in the cards, I still have my bride - Life is good! What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand??? ![]() | |||

Thank you for the opportunity. As many others have said, I’ve had many days that could be considered special, but the main one that stands out is when I met my husband. It will be 38 years married this May. I will never forget seeing him for the first time, felt a connection immediately. We went out on our first date a couple weeks after we met, and have been together ever since. He’s the most wonderful, kind, common sense man I’ve ever known, and I’m very lucky, and happy with our life together. | |||

Great Karma! I have been looking at 228s here recently as I am starting to gravitate toward more compact pistols. I love my 226 but have been wanting to down size a little. Keeping on the 226/228 theme we’ll go with my 21st birthday. I saved for months looking forward to buying my 1st handgun on my 21st. Folks took me to the bar at midnight on my birthday. I would only have a couple because I did not want to be anywhere but at the gun shop at 9am that had an Sig 226 sitting waiting on me. That was where my love for Sigs began. Still have that wonderful pistol and it would enjoy a 228 by it’s side. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have.
