Biden DOJ proposes changing definition of ‘firearm;’ background checks on gun parts and more ‘ghost gun’ rules MAY 07, 2021 LIZ GEORGE President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a proposed change to the legal definitions of “firearms” on Friday in an effort to subject more firearms parts to background checks and serial number tracking. It would be the first update to the “firearms” definition since 1968. According to a notice from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the DOJ seeks to amend the definitions of “firearm” to “clarify when a firearms parts kit is considered a ‘firearm,'” and “help close a regulatory loophole associated with [homemade guns].” “We are committed to taking commonsense steps to address the epidemic of gun violence that takes the lives of too many people in our communities,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland in a statement. “Criminals and others barred from owning a gun should not be able to exploit a loophole to evade background checks and to escape detection by law enforcement.” “This proposed rule would help keep guns out of the wrong hands and make it easier for law enforcement to trace guns used to commit violent crimes, while protecting the rights of law-abiding Americans,” he continued. “Although this rulemaking will solve only one aspect of the problem, we have an obligation to do our part to keep our families and our neighborhoods safe from gun violence.” Firearm trigger assemblies already fall under the definition of “firearms” and are subject to standard firearm rules, such as retail sales transactions taking place only at a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders. Private sales are currently exempt from background checks, but the proposed rules would end that exemption. The DOJ’s statement claims that from 2016 to 2020, over 23,000 “ghost guns” lacking serial numbers were reportedly recovered by law enforcement from potential crime scenes, including one firearms that was linked to 325 homicides and attempted homicides. ( horseshit ) The release stated that the public will have 90 days to submit comments once the proposed rule is published in the Federal Register. To submit a comment, follow the steps here. The proposed change comes roughly one months after President Biden announced several gun-control measures that will be enacted by the White House, including Friday’s proposed rule to help stop the growth of homemade “ghost gun” firearms, regulations on pistol braces and a federal model for state “red flag” laws. “Today we’re taking steps to confront not just the gun crisis, but what is actually a public health crisis,” Biden said from the White House Rose Garden. “Nothing, nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment. Their phony argument suggesting that these are Second Amendment rights at stake for what we’re talking about, but no amendment to the Constitution is absolute. You can’t yell fire in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech.” https://americanmilitarynews.c...ore-ghost-gun-rules/ ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

Lopez Obrador is a reasonably sane man for an incompetent commie. I'm sure he's utterly confused by the incompetent commie lunatic squatting in the White House. Stand by for Kamala Harris' paean to Biden's 'subtlety' and 'deep thinking'.

https://www.powerlineblog.com/...u-s-army-edition.php The U.S. Army apparently has decided to gender-norm scores on the test it administers for combat fitness. As I understand this report in the Washington Post, rather than comparing men’s and women’s scores, women will be judged based on how they perform in relation to other women. This radical change is a response to the unsurprising fact that women are failing the Army’s combat fitness test to a disproportionate extent. The test in question evaluates soldiers in six events: dead lifts, a two-mile run, push-ups, a shuttle run, a medicine ball throw and leg tucks, in which soldiers must hang from a bar and bring their knees to their elbows. About 54 percent of women and 7 percent of men failed the test last year. Thus, in the name of “equity,” women will be able to pass by scoring well in relation to other women, not in absolute terms. Determining who is fit for combat based in part on gender, rather than solely on actual fitness, is a crazy idea. The harsh reality is an army that lowers its combat fitness standard in the name of gender equity (or for any other extraneous reason) is an army that risks becoming unfit for combat. This common sense view is shared by Capt. Kristen Griest, who made history in 2015 as one of the first two women to graduate the Army’s famously difficult Ranger School. The Post notes that Capt. Griest has avoided the media spotlight for years. However, the insanity of gender norming combat fitness scores has caused her to speak out. In a column for the Modern War Institute at West Point, Griest stated: To not require women to meet equal standards in combat arms will not only undermine their credibility, but also place those women, their teammates, and the mission at risk. The Captain knows whereof she speaks. She was the first woman to lead a company of infantrymen, commanding in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. She has deployed twice to Afghanistan. Lt. Col. Lisa Jaster, who also passed the Ranger’s course, had the right response to Bell’s non-argument. She said it’s misogynistic to have separate guidelines for men and women. She added: It’s very frustrating for those of us who want to be thought of as equals and peers. It puts an automatic asterisk by each of our accomplishments. To paraphrase an old saying, those who can do, those who can’t whine about “inequity.”

Biden Admin. Claims Only Small Percentage Of Public Focused On Migrant Crisis https://www.oann.com/biden-adm...d-on-migrant-crisis/ The Biden administration has continued to overlook the surge of illegal immigration at the southern border. While speaking as a guest on a podcast recently, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki expressed her frustrations over individuals who continually ask when Joe Biden is going to visit the border. She claimed most Americans are focused on fixing the economy and recovering while only a small percentage are worried about the migrant surge. However, a poll conducted by Harvard University/Harris Insights and Analytics in February found that 55 percent of Americans are opposed to the Biden administration’s handling of the migrant crisis. This came after Biden used executive orders to rollback President Trump’s strong border policies. The press secretary went on to claim the illegal immigration surge at the border is reoccurring and not a crisis. She said that immigration reform is rather a huge challenge the Biden administration was left with. “Our calculation on that front is one, this is cyclical, we’ve seen surges at the border,” Psaki stated. “Every time it happens, it’s bad until we do something to address it over the long-term with root causes, immigration reform…it’s going to keep happening.” According to recent figures, Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportations have fallen to record low numbers with the agency deporting fewer than 3,000 illegal immigrants in April. Earlier this week, Kamala Harris said she intends to travel to Mexico and Guatemala in June in an effort to tackle the migrant crisis. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." ....with the other 45% being identified as being too stupid to exist in this universe. And Psaki the liar is correct in this particular case. Surges at the border are cyclical. They occur every time a POS liberal is elected president. This year was especially devastating as a POS retarded liberal found his way (with significant assistance) into 'our' White House. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Odd article from the New York Times. It points out that with the House and, more particularly, the Senate as closely divided as they are any deaths among legislators can significantly weaken the existing Democrat majorities. Now that could obviously cut both ways, and the body of the article bears that out even if the point is never made explicit. But the takeaway for the writer that produced the article is in the last line: '"We have maybe a once-in-a-generation window to enact major reforms," [Former Aide to Chuck Schumer Brian] Fallon said. "We may not have a full two years to pace ourselves." Full original text at http://www.yahoo.com/news/may-...years-121420637.html I've been struck lately by the grandiosity of the plans that Biden is proposing. When I say struck, I mean that I have a hard time believing Uncah Joe can get all of that enacted as legislation and funded by a pretty narrowly divided Congress with less than eighteen months to go before the next Congressional election. Combine that with (1) his lazer-like focus on union jobs and (2) his statement at his recent speech on the economy that anyone on unemployment who refused to take "a suitable job" would lose those benefits (see http://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/10...ril-jobs-report.html ), I'd be apt to say that he's more concerned about the blue collar vote in the 2022 Congressional races than anything else - certainly more than actually getting anything big done with a very much divided country and Congress. Which brings me back to what makes this article so odd. It's a morbid-assed cry from the heart, one last extravagant argument for the Dems to be more aggressive in DC. It's certainly coming from the left; just about every person quoted was a Democrat. When one considers that Uncah Joe is clearly stalled out once he issues every Executive Order anyone will draft for him, that Congressional Dems haven't got any great transformative ideas to offer, and that the press seems to be desperate to the point of being on the verge of mourning, it sure looks like the Dems in DC have largely settled into a state of learned helplessness for the next two years.

Biden failed the Israel-Palestinian rocket and riot test - analysis https://www.jpost.com/arab-isr...test-analysis-667920 Biden’s mistakes began before the first rocket was fired: US Mideast policy expert The policies of the Biden administration have inadvertently contributed to the lethal round of hostilities in Israel and Gaza, some Israeli analysts claimed on Wednesday. The escalation “is a test and [US President Joe Biden] has failed,” said Prof. Eytan Gilboa, an expert on US policy in the Middle East at Bar-Ilan University. Biden’s mistakes, he said, began before the first rocket was fired. Back in February, Biden lifted the designation of the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen as a global terrorist organization. Analysts said that the president believed the move would reduce violence in Yemen and against Saudi Arabia, but it has produced the opposite result. “If you are a terrorist organization, and you don’t do anything and sanctions are lifted against you, this means you can do whatever you want,” Gilboa said. “Other terrorist organizations in the Middle East, like Hamas, look at this and say, ‘This is what the US is doing? Very good. We can exploit it.’” In April, Biden announced that America would restore some $235 million in aid to the Palestinians that had been withdrawn by former President Donald Trump. About two-thirds of the money is being given to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which Trump cut off in 2018 because of its ties to terrorism. “Hamas and Islamic Jihad were looking and saying to themselves that if the US restored this aid unconditionally, then we can do whatever we want,” Gilboa explained. Finally, that same month, the US lifted sanctions on International Criminal Court prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, also without any conditions. “The ICC decided to investigate Israel for alleged war crimes in Gaza,” the professor said. “Bensouda is supposed to leave office by June 15 and the Biden administration did not even say to her that it would [only] lift the sanctions providing she did not investigate Israel but [would] leave that to her successor.” Amid the violence, the administration has likewise shown a lack of understanding of the situation, including falsely equating Israel with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. “We urge de-escalation on all sides,” State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said on Tuesday, failing to mention Hamas or Islamic Jihad as terrorist organizations targeting civilians. Price further stressed that “we welcome the steps the Israeli government has taken in recent days aimed at avoiding provocations, including the decision to avoid confrontations during the Jerusalem Day commemoration and the delay in the decision regarding the Sheikh Jarrah evictions." But the real estate feud in Jerusalem, Gilboa said, has little to do with the violence, and mentioning it seems misplaced once rockets were raining down. Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been inciting violence and terrorism for weeks inside Israel and the Palestinian territories, and specifically on the Temple Mount, in response to a decision by the Palestinian Authority to cancel the elections that Hamas hoped to win. Their goal is to take over the West Bank and turn it into another Gaza, Gilboa said. “The US is strengthening terrorist organizations who are against peace,” he said. But not everyone agrees. His colleague, Prof. Jonathan Rynhold, director of the Argov Institute for the Study of Israel and the Jewish People at Bar-Ilan, said that “the American position is very secondary as a factor” in the escalation. He said he would not have expected the Trump administration to do anything more other than “rhetorically being stronger in their support for Israel – and I don’t think that would have had any impact on the dynamic.” America’s friendship does bolster Israel in difficult times, however. Biden has given the vibe that he at best has “ambiguous feelings toward the current Israeli government, which might influence his overall attitude toward Israel,” according to Prof. Boaz Ganor, head of the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya. Ganor said that with two-thirds of the Israeli population running to bomb shelters for cover – vying to protect their children and the elderly – Israelis across the political spectrum should expect a different attitude from the American administration. “This unprecedented situation is far from ending and this is the time that Biden’s friendship is being checked,” Gilboa said. “The American administration’s attitude, for the time being, is quite disappointing.” _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it."
