Is it irresponsible for the Iranian civil air authorities to allow commercial flights to operate, knowing that there were real possibility of attackers inbound and air defense crews on hotseat with fingers on the triggers??

To me, that's just the recipe for this kind of disasters.

These are the same people that encourage suicide bombers.
These idiots should have allowed at least 24 hours after any hostilities ceased before allowing civilian traffic.

Tough week in Iran. Let's see if I have this...
.... Your top General gets reduced to a smoking hole in another country
.... 50+ mourners did at his funeral
.... Your leader is on video looking like he's bucking for a 24 hr psych hold
.... You fire a bunch of missiles to prove a point, and miss
.... You shoot down a civilian airliner

Did I miss anything?

Inshallah will decide what is responsible Wink

In all seriousness, we're talking about a regime who's ability to reason and make decisions is decided by religious fanatics and their followers. Everybody else there is simply keeping their heads down and collecting a check.

Anyone here think flights to Tehran may have a tough time selling seats for a while? I don't know how much that country depends on foreign visitors, but I think they're gonna have a hard time filling those flights.

Yep, you missed that they clearly are totally the obvious winners here.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/0...ast/us-iran-war.html

The deputy general of the Revolutionary Guards, Ali Fadavi, also pledged vengeance, according to a separate report from the English-language version of Tasnim.

“This move was one of the manifestations of our capabilities,” General Fadavi said in a speech in the central province of Isfahan on Thursday. “No country has ever made such a great move against the United States as we did. We dropped dozens of missiles into the heart of the U.S. base in Iraq and they couldn’t do a damn thing.”

Not a particularly difficult call. The leftist nutjobs are nothing if not predictable.

And in other news, the sky became significantly brighter this morning after the sun rose.

Did anyone not anticipate that? Really and truly?

“If Trump had not been elected, he could not have ordered the killing of [the terrorist], and if he had not ordered the killing, the Iranians would not have deployed their AA missiles, and if they had not deployed their missiles, they would not have fired at the airliner, and if they had not fired at the airliner, it would not have been shot down: Ipso facto Trump is responsible for its having been shot down.”
See how obvious—not to mention simple—the reasoning is? Roll Eyes
