Sent to the desert? Maybe. Or maybe not.

I spent my time in the Navy as a missile systems geek. Guidance systems, tracking systems, etc., so I have a bit of knowledge and hands-on experience.

Do not overlook the possibility that the U.S. might have been screwing around with the Iranian missile guidance systems, causing them to go into the desert instead of their intended targets.

That sure is a possibility too. I don't know anything about missile guidance systems......wasn't even aware that they could be hacked...….If that's true, too bad the U.S. didn't re-route them back to somewhere in Iran. I do believe Iran had to do something drastic to show their own people a show of force......once the horse left the barn, they could manipulate the story anyway they saw fit to appease their people.

Actually, in retrospect I don't think this could have worked out any better for 'both' sides. The Iranians get to claim a response against the 'Great Satan' for their folks, and we (the US) suffered absolutely nothing as a result of the strike, allowing Trump to simply brush it off and stand down. In the end, Soleimani is still dead, Iran's ability to execute terrorism is seriously impacted, and the US isn't paying any price for killing this piece of filth. Game, set, and match to the Trump administration.

Conspiracy theorist nonsense. Who is this clown?

Having said that, I do believe that the Ukranian plane was shot down.

That link is BS. Many of those "holes" are debris on the metal. Look at the shadows cast by the "holes" Granted there is a gash and maybe a hole or two but most of what they say are holes is just debris.

Now I'm not saying Iran didn't shot the plane down. I think there is a high probability they did but let's not use conspiracy theorists style reports.

I have a good bit of experience in the effects of antiaircraft weapons and the damage they can create and it varies a good bit based on the weapon used.

I have also been involved in a lot of aircraft recovery, to include the documentation and diagramming of findings, from initial ingress and "as it's found" to any and everything's condition(s), to include the area and objects affected.

Looking at a few pictures and what sketchy information that is filtered through the Iranians and trying to add speculation is silly.

We either will get the facts, or we will not.

What speculation and arguing will do, is get this thread shot down. And I hope that does not occur, as there is a lot of good information about all things concerning The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and how they are behind so much of the world's troubles, and my thoughts are that we will see a real confrontation between the US, a few of her allies and them bastages.

What really surprises me is how quiet Canada is on this issue, considering so many passengers were Canadian.

Kiev airport is a major connecting hub for E.Europe in/out of Middle East and the 'Stans. Not sure how many of the wealthy had relatives that perished, if so, that just ratchets up the anger the mullahs and the IRGC will feel on top of all the other domestic angst.

Wealthy is one thing, but I find myself wondering if any of the people on the airplane were directly related to any of the mullahs or anyone in the Revolutionary Guard. I wouldn't wish it on anybody, but given that they shot the plane down I'm all for any additional cracks or divisions that might appear in the regime.

Any speculation about 'shrapnel' holes from photos of that wreckage are bogus. I would seriously doubt the NTSB if they made such claims RIGHT AFTER the crash. And nobody making these claims is from the NTSB. . .

Now, I am not ruling out a shoot-down, but at this point, any speculation is BS.

Since this is Russian military equipment often staffed by their personnel, maybe a Russian crew shot down a Ukrainian plane?
The irony.

I suspect most of those Canadians were Iranian born with dual citizenship.

She admits she is too fragile for the rigors of being a congressional representative. That’s good to know!

Iran is a small dog barking at the big dog. It is all bark, no bite.

Heck, if Iran were REALLY serious, they would have attacked Al Udeid Airbase in Qatar. That place is so crowded they could not have missed.

This is Statesmanship. Trump knows Iran was just making noise, and he responded perfectly.

Point of order....

I was talking with a former fighter pilot who saw service in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He said that a target of opportunity in an active theater required no approval higher than theater command to engage.

Clearly this guy was on that list and was in a theater of operation.

Comments?
