If my wife or I had some physical issue that we were sensitive about, we’d avoid voluntarily going to an event that featured a comedian like Chris Rock.

A nation of pussies is all I can think of. That bitch slapping bitch wouldn’t have made it through grade 12 where I grew up. He’s as soft as some kittens.

His glorious wife, who fucked his young son’s friend, seem to have a full head of hair just GI Jane’d or or Full Metal Jacketed. Sorry, do not compare that shit with any sort of cancer. It’s got damn hair.

Freedom of Speech. Don’t like it get the fuck out. Move to France or something. How many men have lost their hair? Is it a got damn nationally televised event worth a bunch of news, etc? No. 2 sets of rules for these idiots. Hope to see him in cuffs.

Let me understand your response. Because Will Smith's wife apparently (dont' follow them so I don't know facts) had an affair, she has no right to be treated with any level of respect or dignity at a nationally televised formal event, and any person that walks on that stage can say anything they want about her and she should just suck it up? Her husband should sit there and smile about it? Is that the new standard? Make a mistake and you're fair game for anything and everything, anywhere, any time, from anyone?

Do you know anyone with alopecia? I've known three, including two women. When a woman is used to having beautiful long hair and suddenly most of it falls out due to disease forcing her to shave her head, it has a deep impact on her.

The parallel to the mastectomy scenario was made by one of these friends of mine after some jerk at a bar some how figured it out and made.... oddly enough... A GI Jane joke. In this case, I do understand as I had to hold back her husband, a man who was a consummate professional and not prone to violence. So this one did strike a very real world memory for me. In that case... the guy who made the comment was branded the idiot and was removed from the bar by the staff after several women doused him with drinks.

In this case, there are two victims. Jada as being the recipient of an intentional and inappropriate, unscripted, joke. Chris Rock for being assaulted by Will Smith.

What is that old saying from Road House: "Nobody ever wins a fight...."

Which brings us to the simple fact that I never condoned Smith's actions, and wont as he was wrong, but do understand them. If you read my post I clearly said: " I don't agree with the manner in which Will Smith chose to handle the situation at a televised formal event watched by some number of people."

Everyone will have an opinion on this. The media will spin this, every group with a voice will spin this, all to their own ends. I shared mine opinion based on my initial reaction and similar. life experience. Take it for what it is worth. Agree, disregard, condemn my opinion.... that is freedom my friends. The ability to chose. I think nothing less of anyone who agrees, disagrees or disregards any post I place here.

A stranger making a joke about a woman’s double mastectomy at a bar is totally different than a famous comedian making a joke (you know, the thing he gets paid to do) about the hair loss of a celebrity who is on record saying that she doesn’t care what anyone thinks about it, at an event that said celebrity willingly attended knowing said comedian was going to be hosting.

Hey T, you’ve missed a lot. She didn’t make a mistake (ie single affair). They have an open relationship so she bones lots of other dudes including her son’s friends and other Hollywood actors.

She’s also admitted the alopecia is self-inflicted from years of over styling. She actually had the nerve to blame white people.

Not sure why anybody with dignity would be seen with her on their arm in public.

Please. x100.

I know a woman with Alopecia and she looks like a chemotherapy patient. She is American but per parents were from Vietnam. No hair, no eyebrows, no eye lashes. She wears wigs and has a generally flaunty and liberated demeanor. Perhaps that is overcompensation, but she seems happy.

Mrs. Smith does not appear to have Alopecia. Probably damaged hair follicles due to excessive hair treatments, or stress induced hair loss. She has plenty of hair, with some bare spots. She chose to go "GI Jane", but could easily grow out the hair she has and add weaves to hide the bare spots.

When men in roasts are accused of being impotent, or having small junk, or jerking off instead of having any women, they laugh it off. People are made fun of for being, short, old, fat, bald, having bad hearing, having bad eyesight, liking very young women, and what have you. In decades of watching comedians roast audience members I have never seen someone loose his cool so much that he walked up and battered the comedian. Never. This is so far out of acceptable behavior that people are trying to make sense of it. There is no sense to be made of it. A person with deep seated rage associated with his wife lost his mind and did something so out of bounds we can't even comprehend it.

Nothing Rock said was over any "line", and the people that are trying to justify Smith or victim-blame Rock are so far off base as to be in the parking lot.

And no, there are no words that justify violence. Period. The exception being imminent threats of harm or death. If you believe in the rule of law, you cannot ever batter someone because of something they said. Go read the law. You cannot put your hands on anyone over words or insults. Ever. The justification that "them's fightin' words" is ghetto behavior.

But by all means, go hit the next guy that disses you or says something bad about your wife. Get arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery, take the deal the prosecutor offers, because if you don't, they will threaten to increase the charge to something that will suspend your 2nd amendment rights until you are acquitted. Then you are either in a diversion (if no priors and otherwise good citizen) or on probation for a couple years (don't qualify for a diversion), and you will be in violence prevention classes a few hours a week for the next 6 months to a year.

Will was probably a good and loyal husband. They did not have an "open marriage" until Mrs. Smith's compulsive cheating was realized. Then they claimed it was an "open marriage" as damage control and he rationalized that if he could play around with other women, it would be sorta OK and maybe they could be "even". And they could stay married. Mrs. Smith is probably narcissistic or histrionic and Will is codependent. He desperately wants it to be how it was long ago, and how she promised it would always be. And she will continue to devalue him and manipulate him until he is a shell of a man, or wises up a leaves. See Meghan Markle for reference.

Sorry, it doesn't work like that. Strong and powerful men don't share their women. It's Darwinian. Will's rage was probably due to rumors that Chris and Jada screwed around when they were working together on Ice Age. Or actual knowledge of it. Mrs. Narcissist manipulated him into doing it with one look.

In the hierarchy of insults, is making a crew cut joke to someone balding, smaller than falsely calling someone a stooge to putin, a traitor, and sellout to Russia? Does all of DT's family have open season to slap dems and media claiming such? We need to get insult whack-a-mole rules sorted.

Great video Para. 100% spot on. Funny too, Will should have kept it stack, and slapped Regina King too as she had a jab first.

There's a big difference making jokes about a random person minding their own business vs. a celebrity sitting front and center at an awards show. Every year these award shows hire a comedian to host and there is an expectation, no a duty, to poke fun at everyone in attendance as they have done for decades. This is the first time in the history of award shows for anyone, let alone a star as big as Will Smith, to physically assault and batter the host over a GI Jane joke that he was laughing at not even 10 seconds earlier.

Honest question for those who think Chris Rock was out of line: have you ever seen a celebrity roast? There's swearing, there's sexual vulgarity, shots below the belt, brutally honest truths, actual racism/sexism etc. Chris Rock's GI Jane joke was TAME. On a scale of 1-10 it's a 0.5.

Wow. Someone mentioned Don Rickles before. I think we can assume Will Smith would not have been able to handle Rickles AT ALL.

I picture modern Hollywood melting like the Nazis at the end of Indiana Jones under an onslought by Rickles.

If Gilbert Gottfried had been the MC, Will Smith would still be beating him, and Jada would still be doing the Oscar!

How much you want to bet that Mrs. Smith said when her cheating was exposed that she felt unattractive due to her loss of hair and sought validation from men who found her attractive, something Will could't be objective about because they were married. As I said before, she is likely a highly manipulative narcissist.

That might explain why he reacted the way he did.
