Since the sex allegations against Kavanaugh has blown up in their faces, the Dems has been hammering the issue of teenage drinking. But given their hypocritical standards, Kaptain Kenya could never be a SC justice. A newly found 2001 video of Obama talking about his teenage years as a thug, an drinker, a user of illegal drugs, etc. Very candid comments Smile. Video in link.

Humorous thing I just saw:

Some "talking head" on CNN just his first background investigation took 9 months, implying that the additional 3 days of investigating Kavanaugh wasn't enough. However, his investigation didn't take 9 months, the backlog of investigations ahead of his took probably 7 to 9 months, and the investigation itself probably took a few weeks. A typical Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), which is what's needed for a Top Secret clearance, can usually be done in a few weeks, and the bulk of Kavanaugh's investigation had already been done back in July and August. Also, they weren't starting from scratch, as they were updating his previous investigation from his appointment to the Circuit court.

The agents doing Kavanaugh's investigation, including the supplemental investigation, didn't have to wait to start on him due to a backlog of other investigations.

I hope like hell the Republicans stand together, with HH voting "No" any last minute shenanigans could be bad news.

Now, the rampant cynicism that's seized upon us dictates someone will say that that's completely wrong, but I don't think so. I think they're gonna be shy about sticking their tit back in the wringer next time.

Should President Trump nominate a woman next time? Sure, if the most qualified candidate happens to be a woman. Otherwise, no.

I’d love to think that they’ve learned their lesson but this is Feinstein and friends we’re talking about here. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see them think the message is “turn left so hard that we’re doing donuts in the aisles.” Either way, it’ll be great to see the looks on their mugs like someone stirred their coffee with a steaming turd. No. She's a Democrat, so her vote is already presumed to be a No as part of the 51-49 minority.

Rather than hope RBG retires, or dies, I would rather see Justice Thomas retire, while the Republicans hold a majority in the Senate, to guarantee another Justice that believes in the original meaning of the Constitution can be appointed. That would put three Justices (Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and a player to be named later) who believe in the original meaning doctrine would be around for decades. I am a big fan of Thomas, but he's just entered his 70s, and getting someone in their late 40s or early 50s now would be a good move.

Hey, hey, hey... just entering his 70’s, he’s just a kid.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Hey, if we’re talking wishes, I’d prefer Ruthie depart the bench this term. Justice Thomas can always retire during PDJT’s second term. Smile

Why can't we have both? Put Kavanaugh in now. Repubs both hold and add to their majority in the senate this fall. Ruth Buzzy croaks and they nominate and confirm Amy Coney Barrett. Then Judge Thomas opts to retire and another conservative judge is nominated and confirmed while Trump is still in office.

I'm a hedonist. Let's go for the home run.

At this point, what difference does it really make? Wink There is no duration, short of continual, the Dem's and their mouth pieces in the media would ever accept. The Dem's have been fully outed at this point in their delay at all costs tactics, and something tells me a majority of voters this fall aren't going to forget their behavior.

You’re probably right. I don’t presume to guess what those horrid wastes of oxygen will do. My only hope is that they pay and pay very dearly for their actions this time, and that if they pull anything like this again the cost is much higher.

In any case, time will tell how it all works out. In the meantime, we can all enjoy the very pleasant mental images of the DemonRats losing what passes for their minds when PDJT nominates Ruthie’s replacement. Big Grin

I'm of the same mindset, but it is imperative that the Republicans not only hold on to the majority, but gain a few more senate seats. That means 2 years of getting things done in regards to RBG (who I don't see living past next year) and Thomas, who I can totally see voluntarily retiring to have Trump fill his seat on the Court.
