Call me a cynic, but China is not going to pay for this. Not saying they shouldn't, but they won't.

We will never reduce gov't. spending by a dime for any reason, ever. We will always have to find someone to buy our debt.

We will not do anything to exacerbate things with regard to Taiwan. We just won't. Trump, as much as he'd like to, won't push things that far. He'd be overthrown by the Deep State for doing so.

And Americans simply aren't prepared to pay what regular consumer goods would cost if made in the US or Europe. Sure, we on SIGforum aren't scrounging sofa cushions for rent money, and can get all high and mighty about boycotts. But most folks aren't going to make much effort to make sure their few dollars go to US manufacturers, especially when it comes to smart phones, computers, home appliances, replacement parts, etc. Just ain't gonna happen.

Tighten the screws on visas for Chinese visitors, and they will do exactly the same thing.

Given how much debt we're running up, we may need them to lend us more.

The best thing that individuals can do is not buy Chinese products.

We can’t do anything more. Everything else is up to nation states.

I think recognizing Taiwan is a good start. Also, it’s not just the United States, it’s every country in the world. I’d think we could leverage that.

Bingo! Strike while the iron is hot and everyone around the world is still pissed about this cluster.

On a related note, have you heard the stupid flowing forth from these asswhipes in Washington talking about taking pharma manufacturing away from the Chinese....and moving it to Vietnam! Are you F-ing kidding me? Apparently they're just too stupid to learn anything from the current pandemic. Here's a hint Washington retards. New bill introduced in Congress....See attached list of all pharma products that from such date as established in the legislation will no longer be allowed to be manufactured outside the US for national security reasons. God these people are stupid! Mad

The Only Hope of anything mentioned in this thread ever occurring or even being considered is to Re-Elect Donald Trump.

Period.

Probably the biggest mic drop I've heard/read regarding China to it's people ever. If there's any doubt that the National Security apparatus and diplomatic corps isn't focused on the dragon in the East, this should prove otherwise. Not sure how good Matt Pottinger is at his primary job but, his Mandarin was pretty damn flawless.

Impressive grasp of the spoken mandarin.

Not sure if enough of the 'right' people in China will see it though.

There's enough cross-border activity between China-Taiwan-Hong Kong/Macau, that I'm sure some cleaver by-passes around the commie firewall exist to get this spread out.

Hey, one of the perks of being in the old Russian KGB was the ability to go to the West, stock up on blue jeans, good whiskey and rock'n'roll tapes and then go home to Russia to sell or trade them off at a premium. This may not offer quite the same zest, but it's still a form of forbidden fruit that's well-presented and both audible and legible in Mandarin.

Now, if only there weren't the constant editing breaks and there were more Chinese (rather than Western) authors for the guy to cite.
