Pelosi: Jordan as Speaker Would Be ‘Appalling,’ Our Democracy Is at Stake

What's appalling are the Republicans who continue to vote against Jordan. Simpletons.

Jordan had 20 congressmen voting against him yesterday. Today he had 22. So he did worse. Just as an aside, only 8 congressmen voted against McCarthy. I saw a Congressman on TV say that if Jordan asks for a third vote, it will only get worse. So we will see.

This is getting ridiculous.
I hope he hangs in there for at least 15 rounds of voting.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

DNC ad for 2024 elections: "20 times the House Republicans voted but couldn't agree on a leader and the nation suffered because of it. We can't afford for them to be in control of the WH and the Senate too. Dysfunction is not leadership."

The ad writes itself.

He is playing games like an adolescent child. This man is not fit to serve in Congress.

Here is his Washington D.C. Office number:

Fuck him and everybody else in that Republican conference.

So it's become a dick measuring contest now as the Republicans play chicken while the Democrats are happy they win either way.

Do they play chicken before, or after the measuring?

Wonder how many people are turned off every time electing a speaker fails? I know in my small circle of acquaintances the disgust with the GOP house is growing. IMHO there just doesn't seem to be a strong dynamic leader amongst the GOP house.

McCarthy or another RINO uni-party member to help them keep colluding with the Dems.

I am and people I know are too.

The Republicans held the WH, Senate and House from 2016 to 2018 and couldn't get shit done. Nothing of note. Now that we're seeing this shit show in the House, it reinforces the idea that the Republican can't get their act together to elect a leader and then start to move on legislation.

They are a lot of talk and produce few tangible results. They have the majority, can do things and put pressure on Schumer and the WH but they are dysfunctional. Other than the impeachment inquiry and the weaponization of the DOJ investigation, most of 2023 has been lost.

I was prepared for them to have learned their lessons when they lost the House and to roll up their sleeves, wipe off their bloodied lips and get something done. They are truly dysfunctional.

This sounds dramatic, but with the state of this country, they truly don't give a fuck! I guess they already got "theirs".

Looks to me like Jordan's speaker bid is doomed. Congressman Don Bacon (R-Neb) says that his wife received threatening texts from Jordan supporters. He shared the texts with his fellow veterans. I heard him on the radio and he said these tactics will fail. In fact, it will solidify the opposition to Jordan.

Good for him. Who's he going to vote for then? Seems as if Jordan or Jeffries are the two options to choose from.

Oh, I see. It doesn't matter what their constituents want, they'll decide what's good for us amongst themselves.

I think the status now is that one side isn't going to vote for whom the other side will nominate and vice versa. The game is who will give in first.

Governing is a team sport. McCarthy has always been a team player. Even he voted for Jordan, despite lots of reasons not to. Jordan has never been a team player. 96% of the Republicans wanted to keep McCarthy as speaker. 4% of the Republicans and all of the Democrats wanted him removed. Jordan sided with the Democrats. I don't think this has worked out too good.

Flashlightboy pretty much hits it on the head. If it were the Dems, they would be 100% in lockstep.
