The VERY conservative block that ousted the last speaker won't support anyone that isn't on their side of the spectrum. Without them, there would have to be at least a few of the other side of the aisle needed in order to elect a new speaker due to the narrow majority in the House.

The Dems undoubtedly want subpoena power on the committees.

The Republicans can go eff themselves if they are even thinking about this.

The Gang of 8 can also go eff themselves since this dysfunction is on them. They can't side with Democrats on voting for a speaker since that's easiest way for them to lose their next election. They won't side with Jordon for the same reason they ousted McCarthy.

Even when in charge, the Republicans can't help but stepping on their own dicks.

It’s been reported that some Republicans don’t want to vote for Jordan simply because it would be giving Gaetz what he wanted. They are supportive of the previous speaker. I can somewhat see their point, but they need to govern without giving the Dems stronger positions.

The Dems will be unified against Jordan, that’s a given. I think the vote is planned for tomorrow, Tuesday.

Keep those stinking democrats out of this. They ought to have not a damn thing to do with picking the new speaker. The very idea that any Republican at this point would make deals with democrats in order to pick the new speaker is pretty despicable.

Unless of course the democrats want to vote for Jim Jordan...
