Yes.

They had it on a table at school for us to interact with. Either move it around with our hands or try a magnet from underneath. It was not a small amount.

Our science teacher in Jr. High kept a quart sized jar of it on the counter that we could play with. I'd bet that there are still little mercury beads all over that classroom. Big Grin

Of course, that was back when merthiolate and mercurochrome were popular (and effective) antiseptics which contained mercury. Somehow or another, we all survived.

Wish could still get merthiolate. If my throat was sore, my grandmother would swab my throat with it. Ah the good old days.

I used to watch reruns of a man and his talking horse. I just get a blank stare when I share that fact with the new generation

Staying late watching TV meant the Star Spangled Banner coming on and then static after.

Changing TV channel meant getting up off the couch.

You found your friends by finding the pile of bikes in front of a house.

The streetlights humming as it comes on was your soundtrack racing home.

Getting in trouble at school meant a paddle...not detention.

Gym class was a life/death situation climbing a rope 30 feet in the air without safety rope...and barely a mat to catch your fall.

Calling on the phone for recording that gives you time/temperature.

Calling on the phone for a recording listing movie title and showtimes.

Driving meant stick shift 70% of the time.

You understand what a party line is.

You call people after a certain time because the price per minutes is less.

When I enter my birth year on a app, it's like I am a contestant on the price is right spinning the wheel.

At NASCAR races everybody got a pack of Winstons when they entered the track.

Beer was more expensive than gasoline.

Bread was good for you and meat/fat was bad.

Stop doing that, or you'll go blind.

The family gathered around the TV on a Sunday evening in the fall to watch the once a year showing of The Wizard of OZ.

5 cents for a pack of baseball cards with a thin piece of bubble gum inside.

Schwinn Stingray bicycle, you had to have one for the wheelie contests on the weekends.
