For those of you in Florida staying up tonight to ride this out, a bit of humor might be a relief from the worry.

Thinks seem to have gone well in my location. When the track skewed south on Tuesday, I decided to stay in place and wait it out. We just got some strong wind and rain here. Power started to fluctuate around 10pm but never went out for more than a few seconds. Went to sleep around midnight and woke up around 6am. Hopefully everyone else faired just as well.

It safe to bet they had one seeing a tornado just ahead on their escape route.

YT vids are astonishing.

No damage at my house, power still on. Many fences and trees are down/damaged in my neighborhood, but nothing too bad. Standing water in the swamp behind my house is about the same level as Irma - about 4' deeper than after a normal rain storm. Over all, we were blessed.

Mornin, fared well here. Never lost power, back yard is a mess from the oak trees but otherwise everything is intact. Few nervous hours overnight listening to the winds howling.

No issues here other than no power. Some neighbors not so lucky, one house had a live oak crush the kitchen, another oak took out a car and a few car ports torn away.

Stayed up to 2:30 when the rain and wind died down, watched TV, flipping from news to shows, had a couple of cigars.

Gusts in the 60's, but lots and lots of rain, it was supposed to let up at 1AM but didn't until 2:30.

Didn't lose power, thank goodness, we spent some $$$ in the HOA to clean out all the drains and culverts etc, seems to have helped, there is standing water in parts of the road but nobody's home flooded.

Lost a branch off a Ligustrum tree out front but that seems to be it.

Glad to hear the Florida SF contingent seems to have fared well.

As someone from the PNW (currently visiting my daughter in Davenport IA), this sure seemed like a damn scary event.

A Focused Ron DeSantis Just Eviscerated Kamala Harris

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was asked about a political narrative that media attempted to stir up because he ‘supposedly’ did not take a phone call from Kamala Harris. Apparently, Harris campaign mgr/operative Brian Fallon thought he could garner some political points by asking his media allies to push the story.

Appearing on CNBC, Ron DeSantis was asked about the issue. In the mic-drop reply, DeSantis destroys Kamala’s effort.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Safe and fine here in central Florida. Power out 12 hours now, so I am hooking up generators. Lost some pool screen panels and soffiting. Did well all considered.

Razz Well hopefully some voters are paying attention. Mic drop indeed.

Praise God, it’s looking like our members and Florida population as a whole, is doing OK after this storm.
