It appears Tampa Bay isn't out of the danger zone.

Apparently Milt's track isn't moving south as far and fast as predicted.

I don't think Tampa was ever out of the danger zone even after it wobbled more towards Sarasota. Those spaghetti and cone models only show storm course, not its impact zone.

DeSantis has been an excellent governor.

He caught a lot of flak during the primary campaign, but after watching some of the pressers he's done over the past week, I've been damned impressed. The State of Florida seems to have it's shit together. I know, they've had lots of practice, but they're doing a helluva lot better job than the feds (who should have had a lot more by now).

Too late to escape now. Sarasota County issues a shelter-in-place to anyone not already on the run, as the roads are no longer considered safe.

Sarasota residents told to SIP it...

About to make landfall in Sarasota. Heavy rain here northeast of Tampa, winds not too bad but will get worse.

Still have power

North Fort Myers, tornado crossed the river from Fort Myers, touching down 2 miles south of me then jumping over me and touching back down 2 miles north of me. God is good. Now it’s the strong winds. I did all my prep work Monday and Tuesday. Power blinking off and on but so far mostly staying on. Generator fueled and ready. Plan for the worst and pray for the best.

Friends of mine in the area evacuated to Miami today. They sent me video of a tornado just ahead of them on the road.

Craziness.

God bless America.

Lost power about an hour ago. Didn’t buy many groceries since we lost hundreds of dollars worth to Helene. Took 48 hours to get power back from Helene. Have a feeling this one is going to take longer.

Thanks, doing fine, lost power about an hour ago which we always do here with all the trees in my area. Typically, they're pretty quick getting it back on where I live since we're on a main county route.

Massive amounts of rain here, winds were gusting to maybe 70-75, mph sustained seems like 30-40.

We are between Zephyrhills and Thonotosassa and we still have power, for now. No major issues, wind not too bad, and I am out of the flood zone.

Interestingly, the local NOAA station seems to have gone offline around 10pm. I would have thought they would be prepared to weather a storm like this.
