Oh stewardess, I speak jive. |
OK, good, I thought so. I'm the same, and my only useful metric based on experience is deer hunting and outdoor ranges, and I'm no savant type shooter, and even I can regularly ping 12" steel out past 300 yards in the mountains/foothills, and that's with an average M4gery with an EOTech, usually standing up unsupported, and I've neck shot a few deer at that distance over the years. And I'd never in a million years call myself a sniper.

Been there several times, still doesn't mean that $28 for a burger isn't absurd, you should see the prices in Vancouver for a burger, it's the same and you can't gamble LOL

I had the most expensive meal of my life at the MGM. Just shy of $600 (at least that was the total bill divided by the people present) My employer paid for it. I think I ordered something in the $80 range. The majority of the bill was for booze and wine, of which I didn't partake. Was it just you? If so, what did you have, or perhaps, how much did you drink?

The waiter / order taker most likely denoted 2 Guests based on a guess, or the POS system assumed it for them based on the number of entrees, etc. We had that technology when I briefly waited tables in the very early 90s. That or his room reservation triggered the head count, but what's least likely is that it's real evidence there was a second person. Maybe, I suppose, but I doubt it. You ever ordered room service? I have, maybe 30 times in my life, and I don't recall them ever asking how many people. It usually was more like ordering tacos from Jose's shop in town. "Jello, Jes, this eeez Room Service, how may I help Joo?". "2 Burritos, 2 Jarritos..." "Si, senior, eeeet will be 1 hour...". More or less, whether white, Hispanic, or otherwise.

All of my most expensive meals ever have been in Vegas, only on their money / only after winning at the Poker tables. Whenever that happens, I (and usually a date/girlfriend, or friends too) will go all out at whatever the hot spot or famous place du jour is, every night... if the funds are there. It borders on gluttony, no doubt, but I like good food, so I'll give back/spend a grand or two pigging out while there if I win a few+ thousand bucks. My luck is pretty good. I usually at least pay for the trip, and at least one big fancy meal.

This is true. Huge mistake. Pretty soon we'll see the media and the left circling like sharks. I expect better.

By the way, Para nailed this early on. The guy was alone. He was a very smart but insane person. He was not politically motivated (he thought about doing this at other very different events) and was not targeting a conservative audience. The guy acted alone. I do believe the girlfriend's story that he wired the money to buy her a house. My only question concerns observations that he always gambled with a steady streams of booze. He had a Valium RX. I wonder if he was addicted to stimulants? Needed Valium to come down/sleep? It will be interesting to see the toxicology report.

In my opinion, they are too willing to give in on some things. I suppose they see it as strategy, but I do not like it.

I’m assuming the NRA is going to have significant input on how this law will be written. Is it possible they are going to define (and protect) the final definition of what semi-automatic is?

Ugh. This is very frustrating. It's security theatre - thinking it will change anything regarding public safety and/or thwart or impede such attacks as this in any meaningful way. Purely emotional "feel good" legislation, categorically amongst the most pointless endeavors ever entered into by human beings, a literal and irrefutable waste of finite resources, and a worm-can opening of a dangerous to our rights manner that seems not only emotional and pointless but also - and most importantly - devoid of having considered the consequences. My dissatisfaction with the NRA is rarely disappointed. Jerks/Idiots. (unless of course I'm wrong and their strategy is sincerely of a proactive protection perspective, as suggested above. Well see. I'll happily be wrong about this.) Or, I suppose, some (potentially)-ill-conceived strategy where they think they can sacrifice this maiden, gain publicity / image points, ban something stupid that no one much cares about the thing itself, and somehow protect the language, but even if true, and even if this goes fairly well, even if - say - it got us nationwide CCW and Suppressors with no tax stamp, the risk that some as yet unforeseen hitch in the language itself or the logic of it will fuck us down the road... There is no upside to adding a restriction any broader than a 1000 page dissertation and technical manual that explicitly only refers to those specific stupid bump stocks - which isn't even possible, in reality. It will screw us later, most likely.

Agreed. In 2015, it was confederate flags they were protesting against and now it's American flags. If we cede ground on bump stocks, they'll keep pushing DiFi's dream. We need to be telling them "no." ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor
