IOW: Good enough. 300 yards, was it? In the dark? "Uphill." With light pollution everywhere. Incoming fire.

I wonder where and how one might practice against the shot that would've been necessary in that scenario? Mountains? A building that's about to be demolished?

Well then, since the sheriff said the guy had planned to escape and also mentioned superhero, I'm going to guess the guy had a wing suit with a Batman symbol on it and planned to fly out the window as his means of escape.

I wonder if Harvard will have the stones to do what a lowly TV network did?

(Yeah, the question is largely rhetorical...)

Meh, it wouldn't be a stretch for me to call the Democratic party a domestic terrorist organization. After all they employ terror cells (BLM, Antifa) with the goal of striking fear in all who oppose them and destroying the constitution of the United States.

Right.
Not only that but the NRA could more accurately be called a Civil Rights organization.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Harvard Professor Calls NRA a "Domestic Terrorist Organization"

A Harvard University professor called the National Rifle Association a “domestic terrorist organization” Tuesday morning, adding that “Congress must act” on gun control.

“We have to have the courage to call the NRA exactly what it has become - a domestic terrorist organization that places profit above the lives of the American people,” Dr. Jonathan Walton declared during Morning Prayers, according to a blog post by The Memorial Church at Harvard.

From the above piece:

"He then decried the fact that Congress has not enacted further gun control measures, proclaiming that “if Congress is unwilling to act, then this nation should just own [its] sick and twisted reality,” rather than continuing to publicly mourn the victims.

“Mass shootings will just become a part of the quotidian fabric of American life - a sad, but an unsurprising event,” he continued.

“Thus, don’t ask me to pray. Don’t ask me to hold a vigil for victims. Nor will I light any more candles.”
Walton is the Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister of the Memorial Church, as well as a tenured Harvard Divinity School Professor of Religion and Society."

I'm curious if this anti-mass-shooting professor has been spending time and energy helping Chicago deal with it's horrific gun violence.

From this last weekend, alone:

Also, if I remember correctly, some on the left were trying to spin, while crying Islamaphobia, the bombing at Manchester Arena (way, way back in May) as a new normal, of sorts, and that people needed to stop blaming Muslims for every act of a radicalized Muslim. The bombs were cobbled together from readily obtainable materials despite laws against such things, BTW.

But I'm sure the NRA is still largely to blame. Yup.

Surely a trained sniper can reliably hit a person from that distance and elevation change with all the wizz bang gear, big assed optics, a rangefinder, firm shooting position, spotters, etc.

Right?

Is that really too much to expect from modern law enforcement marksmen/snipers/etc?

I wouldn't have guessed that.

This is of course separate of whether or not it was safe to return fire due to guests in adjacent rooms and such, I'm just talking about the difficulty of the shot itself.

I am a lowly hunter with an angle correcting range finder and I can light a target up at 400 yards all day with elevation changes.

Apparently he is not that big of a tipper.

And it seems he has an appetite also.
Room service receipt says 2 guests.

Its a duplicate receipt. Guy got a burger and a bagel to eat later.

What was this douche going to do? Parachute out his window and down to his car which was loaded with 50lbs of tannerite and 1,300 rounds of .223? There's no way he'd have been able to escape. He was trapped in a hotel room on the 32nd floor.

Well Sheriff Lombardo did seem to have a theory ...

Up top left, he's referring to the line that says Guests 2, you can see it on the left copy only.

But then wtf $28 for a burger, $10 for a bagel! $10 for a bottle of water no shit... $100 for lunch...

Yeah but the receipts are the same. Person entering order assumed 2 guests since two entree items were ordered, I am guessing. I doubt he cared how much he was spending...

I worked 8 years in hotels and restaurants and I know the mindset of the person entering a room service order. Two entree orders = two guests in their mind. The guy bought the bagel to eat later.

Been a while since you've been to Vegas? They've set the bar pretty high for shameful food pricing.

And if he was betting $10,000/day, his room and food would have been comp'd when he checked out. Of course, the way he checked out this time, they probably just ran all the charges on his credit card before the accounts were locked.
