Cleaned the garage this afternoon with a Nub Habano. I like the Habano and Cameroons in particular.

CI does have the "garbage" cigar in their samplers, but the guy that helps me out up there said that this Gurkha is an OK smoke. He was right, it is OK, nothing great.

This HOT ASS DAY is winding down with an Alec Bradley Black Market Vandal. So far it is quite good, much better than the Filthy Hooligan or whatever it is that comes out around St. Patty's day.

Anybody else try the Casa Cuba Flor Fina from Fuente? For a mild cigar, it has a nice flavor all the way though. Only complaint was it required several touch ups.

Good morning BOTL's. Vacation Day 2 - sitting on deck overlooking a trout river. Enjoying a french pressed coffee and a light CAO as a smoking accessory.

Nice to see that you get to relax on your vacation!

Those uzi's are tasty and priced ok too.

I have not had the new Fuente yet. Most of them are mild to medium strength but as they age they become a wonderful smoke. I have a Fuente and an Ashton left from when I got married...10 years ago!

Tonight I am smoking a Man of War Immortal. Not a bad smoke, but I still prefer the Ruination and the Virtue.

Question or the group -

Lighter or match?

I have been a lighter guy for years, toast the foot with a triple flame, and then work the stick so that it is completely lit before I take my first puff.

Recently I have tried cigar matches - only when indoors or zero wind, but I have really been enjoying sticks lit this way and have found that they seem to need less corrections or re-lights.

Thoughts?

There is a three match method, Gordon Mott demonstrates on you tube, the cutting of the cigar is the last step, which keeps sulfur from entering the cigar. I think it is superior to lighting with a lighter but it takes time and can not be done in a wind.

For ease of use, I use a lighter. This week though, my lighter ran out of fluid and I used a match. I noticed that there was not a "funny" flavor right off of the light. When I light my cigars with a lighter, I always blow out through the cigar before I take the first draw, but the butane must still linger. For a really good experience, take the cedar from a wrapped cigar and light that to light your cigar.

Gator:

Thanks for sharing this. Cigar smoking is a bit of a ritual for me; I will for sure be checking out the video.

If it comes wrapped in cedar i use the cedar. If not triple torch, 45 degree angle, rotate cigar but i cut before and lightly puff.

Ronin as you know those are rolled in Miami at El Titan Bronze. They make some really good cigars on the won as well as roll the La Palina Goldie, Mr. Sam, and now Family series. The El titan bronze smokes that bear their own name are only offered in their storefront or website but are worth the effort to get them.
