That is a very interesting theory. Alternating rounds, with the gun cycling absolutely normally.

He manipulated the gun before his first shot, but I couldn’t tell what he was doing as he was just entering the frame. Then he fired a shot and his second shot didn’t go off and he cycled the gun again, which would have ejected a live round. After that he is too far away to tell what happened. It is interesting that the gases ejected out of the top of the gun.

They must know who he is if the reports are true about about what they have ascertained so far.

I would guess they most likely have a good idea of who he possibly is by now, but are waiting to try to find him before releasing his identity. They have a better chance of catching him that way.

NYPD investigators found a gray backpack hidden in the brush in Central Park on Friday that could be the one ditched by the assassin who gunned down United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, cops and sources said.

The bag was recovered south of the carousel near Heckscher playground and looks similar to the gray backpack worn by the shooter when he opened fire on Thompson, 50, outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown on Wednesday, sources said.

A photo obtained by The Post shows the sleekly-designed backpack in good condition after police found it.

Investigators did not open the bag and sent it straight to the lab for forensic testing, police sources told The Post.

Thompson’s killer’s bag was described by NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny as “very distinctive,” in a Friday press briefing. “It is huge and gray” he added.

Paul Dering, the founder and chief executive of Peak Design, told The New York Times he thinks the backpack worn by the gunman in the surveillance photos released by the NYPD could be a version of the “Everyday Backpack” his company sells.

Dering said the at-large suspect’s backpack appears to be an older version that was on the market from 2016 and 2019, according to the report.

That's just laughable. I'm surprised he didn't accuse the guy's wife. That's about 100 times more plausible.

The guy was murdered. That attitude is totally disgusting. The actions of the company he ran are not relevant to the discussion, at least with respect to a public company operating legally in the US.

Is it operating legally? They are the subject of multiple DOJ investigations for monopolistic actions and insider trading, and that's just what's public.

here we are right now time of the murder. UHC is a huge company so there will always be legal issues but do you know of any public indictments, charges, court cases, grand jury findings, convictions etc. that are targeted at this man? For which he is personally responsible. I don't. And even if I did getting murdered is not justice. I'm can but won't at the moment discuss the issues at UHC which ultimately are bound inexorably in our broken health care system. But if job performance alone is your standard there are a huge number of people who would be on the hit list, starting with an incredible number of political figures. Maybe that guy Cuomo, pretty direct link to a lot of deaths there. You get my drift. If what you are doing is illegal how about we charge and convict you and then set the punishment.

The ejected live rounds on purpose thing is a tad contrived isn't it? Would be a whole lot easier and more certain to just drop them on the ground rather than waste time jacking out every other round.

If the "messages" are written on the brass casing, they would be on the ground whether fired or manually ejected.

I have UHC at work and they are the worst about covering pharmaceuticals and I have to rely on GoodRx for medicines with the exception of my Monjoro. For some reason the most expensive thing I have to take is covered. I don't understand it.

Tabs is facing the final 4 chemo treatments at $5k each after racking up a $300,000+ medical bill and they are balking now.

At this point bankruptcy is an option and I don't even care.

Thanks for your information. Going to the trouble and expense of adding a suppressor doesn't seem worth it. For me. At this time. Maybe later on a hunting long gun would make sense.

I've been around guns my entire adult life but have learned a great deal from this thread. Never knew about a WellRod till this thread.

Plus, I learned about a suppressed handgun like the WellRod that veterinarians/ranchers use to put down sick animals without upsetting nearby neighbors or animals.
