It's one of those things where we should look towards Don Corleone and apply appropriate punishments. Should this guy be fired, sued to homelessness, and find out he has Stage 4 Liver Cancer? Sure. It fits with the kind of doucebag he is. However, until we find out he's some kind of pedophile or something equally murderable, he didn't deserve to be murdered by some twat that couldn't work a gun with a suppressor on it. | |||

I think you two kind of sum up how a lot of people feel about this incident. Insurance CEO’s have sort of become the “robber barons” of the modern era. A lot of people believe that they’ve taken greed too far and have a real disdain for these folks. Personally, I think they’ve taken their quest for more profit to a point beyond what’s objectively moral. Still though, this murder wasn’t right and it’s not right to call for more of these types of murders either. The only reason I have any real interest in this event is due to the fairly unusual circumstances surrounding the whole event, and I think a lot of people are in that boat as well. Personally I have no sympathy for the CEO. He made 10 million a year, and did every immoral thing he could to generate more profit. IMO karma visited him, and what happened is fair. The shooter will probably be caught and receive just punishment, which is also fair. -c1steve | |||

Incidents like this only serve to increase calls for restrictions on gun rights. The last thing anyone who can afford to have legally-armed security because of money or power could possibly want is for their potential attackers to be armed. That’s one of the bizarre ironies of seeing statements approving of this murder on a gun forum, and only shows how clueless its proponents are. It’s one thing to be so personally immorally corrupt as to condone an act like this, but I would expect that any gun owner with half an ounce of self-interest sense would think, “Yeah, not so good.” Restrictions on gun ownership are already so tight in places like New York City that they can hardly be increased, but that’s not true of much of the rest of the country and those who want to restrict them more will be citing this incident as justification. In particular, expect to see suppressors to be targeted and say goodbye to any sort of “hearing protection act” that we might have hoped for. Back when I was in my teens, my mom started having issues with persistent heartburn. Her doctor recommended a minor surgery to resolve this. Insurance (and she had "good" insurance) denied the request for years till her condition got worse and required major surgery. I ma glad this man is dead. I am glad he tried to flee but failed so his last living moments were in terror. Call me whatever terrible names you want but this is peak FAFO for greedy companies. | |||
