Notice how our President took his time, closer his eyes and took a breath before he responded.

He’s a human. More so than maybe any president we’ve had in a long time. He’s taking in news that he probably feels a lot worse about than we do. That wasn’t some canned response a speechwriter gave him.

Glorious! Thanks for the reminder to check in. Next up, watching The Young Turks meltdown. 2021 is here early!

Meanwhile, Biden had the luxury to prepare a statement, and he still had to go political before the bitch was even cold. Classless, old fool.

That's a two for by Biden given his BS gun control tweet following the shooting of the LA PD officers. I'm starting to really loathe this old fossil.

How so? If the court is at 4-4 post election and the Dem's challenge the results, how does a final decision on the election results get made? I'd suggest that not one of the liberal justices would consider voting to confirm DJT's second term, so that leaves us deadlocked at 4-4 (assuming Roberts didn't stab us in the back again).

Did you forget Kavenaugh? Your 4-4 split is already assuming Roberts sides with the liberal justices.

Kavenaugh, Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch...

Edit: removed Scalia and replaced with Gorsuch.

Apparently being reported by one news group, Ginsburg's daughter is putting out there that Ruthie's dying wish was not be be replaced by the current president.

What a twat. If this is true is says a lot about the daughter and her old lady

He should nominate Merrik Garland. He’s centrist enough not to cause problems and the Democrats would have to either push him through with thanks or slit their own throats in hipocracy. Either helps Trump win. Breyer is 82, Thomas is 72, and Alito is 70. That’s 1-2 more seats in the next term so an appointment to the center of RBG and improved re-election chances moves the court further than a right of center appointment and an angry electorate.

Or people are so polarized that none of this will matter to the election and he should swing for the fences. Seems equally likely.

The sad thing is how many months or years has Trump, the media, everyone had time to prepare their responses to this unsurprising event. They literally had to dust them off they've been sitting on the shelf so long.

Shotgun Joe rambles along in his response.

RIP RBG. Let’s get her replaced in short order to keep things official.

I'm sure Garland doesn't have a minor chip on his shoulder and axe to grind after being so close, but yet so far away 4yrs ago.

The weirdest thing about the election's effect on a confirmation vote is actually the aggregate of how each Senator sees a confirmation vote so close to Election Day. Pushing Turtle can guarantee a nominee a vote, but actually getting a quorum of the Senate to be in D.C. with a little over six weeks before an election in order to take a vote that will be rendered polarizing by the Dems can make for a strange environment in which to make a decision. I'm all for the push and feel optimistic about the outcome, but there will be some Senators doing some strange things here and there that they would never do under any other circumstances.

At this point in time, I feel the President and Senate will have to push a nominee thru. Otherwise the other side will be VERY driven to vote to have Biden instead of Trump for the nomination.

Yes, we don't need "centrists", they go left at the most inopportune times. We need a rock-ribbed conservative.
