IMO, the breakdown of the nuclear family (promoted and perpetuated by government) is at the very core of 'everything' wrong with this country today. 50 years of government promoting and incentivizing everything that can destroy the very fabric of society has brought us to where we are today.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/...-department-n2596056

the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled Thursday evening that votes cast by residents of the state's largest city on a ballot question — whether the Minneapolis Police Department should be eliminated and replaced with a public safety agency — could be counted.

Pushed by the group Yes 4 Minneapolis, the ballot question would amend the city's charter to remove requirements for a police department staffed by a certain number of officers and instead develop "a comprehensive public health approach to safety."

This amendment would create a Department of Public Safety combining public safety functions through a comprehensive public health approach to be determined by the Mayor and Council. The department would be led by a Commissioner nominated by the Mayor and appointed by the Council. The Police Department, and its chief, would be removed from the City Charter. The Public Safety Department could include police officers, but the minimum funding requirement would be eliminated.

early voting in Minneapolis starts today

A suggestion. Add a line item to the city budget for body bags and additional coroner hours, and add a bunch of money to that line item. These morons are going to need those.

The wording on the ballot is very convoluted and confusing. After reading it you have no idea what a yes vote or no vote means.

^^^ One of the dirty little secrets about voter initiatives.

Some jurisdictions retain the authority to reword voter initiatives "to make sure they comply with the law and are enforceable". In abstract, this makes sense: if you look at California law voter initiatives can be confusing, contradictory or stated in outright unConstitutional terms.

The dirty trick comes in the opportunity to play games with the language. Making the proposal utterly incomprehensible is an old and honored way of turning voters off from voting for the proposal. The confusion may then be used in an effort to either cripple the initiative or reverse its effects entirely.

In Austin TX, the city and county tried to blunt two initiatives; one against the homeless camping out everywhere and another that would reverse the radical defunding of the police in the name of 'community oriented policing'. In both cases, the city rewrote the initiative before allowing it to be placed on the ballot and did so in such a way as to not only be confusing but to actually produce a result that was the opposite of what the people intended.

The local bipartisan advocacy group wound up going to court to prevent the 'clarified' language about police funding from being put on the ballot in the upcoming election. The 'clarified' version was such a misrepresented and convoluted mess that the court agreed to prohibit the 'clarified' version from being put on the ballot and allowed a clear and correct version to be put on the ballot instead.

Why local government would try to pee on local citizens' shoes and tell them it's raining like that is beyond logic (or at least beyond me, but hey - I actually pay attention). Be aware though, particularly if you back local or state initiatives, that 'clarification' is most definitely a weapon in the bad guys' armory and it may be necessary to fight just to get clear language on the ballot.

They should stop messing around and abolish their police department. They are trying to put a band aid on a gunshot wound here.

The people that replace the police aren’t going to be the softhearted social worker types we think.

FBI doesn’t track Antifa so well.

Now, Langan didn’t take it as far as Nadler in his “myth” assertion concerning Antifa, but he did admit to Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) that since the FBI doesn’t consider Antifa an “organization,” they don’t keep track of their extremist violence.

Antifa is just a movement, not an organization the FBI says.
Maybe they didn’t watch the nightly riots and organized marches in Seattle, Oregon, and other places where there were clearly leaders of an organized group.

Why would they track an organization that is on their side? The Eff Bee Eye is the official enforcement arm of the left and Antifa is the unofficial one.

Art Acevedo couldn't kill either the Austin or Houston Police Departments, and both city councils were determined to give it a try.

back on page 297 there was a post about Lovely Warren, Mayor of Rochester, NY

https://hotair.com/jazz-shaw/2...ng-plea-deal-n420332

it was revealed that her husband had been a suspect in an investigation into a major drug trafficking ring. Things came to a head when both she and her husband were arrested on child endangerment and illegal weapons charges after a police raid on the couple’s home found the child left alone in a house with tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs in it and an unsecured, loaded handgun.

Her case was within days of going to trial this week when we learned that the entire affair was being dropped from the court docket following a plea deal. Warren will wind up losing her position as Mayor on December 1st as part of the arrangement, but aside from that, she’s getting off with one of the sweetest deals imaginable

Mayor Lovely Warren, a groundbreaker as Rochester’s mayor, admitted Monday to breaching the state’s election law and, as part of a plea agreement, will resign from office by Dec. 1.

The plea deal heads off what was expected to be a month-long trial, while also resolving weapons and child endangerment charges Warren confronted in a separate criminal case.

Warren was facing multiple felonies in both the campaign finance investigation and the weapons and child endangerment arrest. After the bargaining was finished, however, she is pleading guilty to a single count of a misdemeanor for knowingly exceeding allowed maximum campaign contributions. That’s it. That’s the only charge she took. Her campaign treasurer and the treasurer of her PAC both pleaded guilty to the same single charge as well. (They had been funneling money from the PAC directly into her campaign coffers far in excess of legal limits.)

The sentence that Warren and her two co-conspirators received was a year-long “conditional discharge.” No jail time. No fines to pay. They just have to manage to not be arrested again for the next year. And Warren will have to step down as Mayor by December 1. That’s also a complete joke because she already lost her primary race badly earlier this year and she would have been out of office a few weeks later anyway.

Warren’s attorney was quick to point out that she is still entitled to her full pension as a two-term mayor. Had she been convicted of a felony, her pension would have been forfeit, but for a misdemeanor, she gets to keep it.

How did her attorneys manage to wrangle such an incredibly generous deal for an elected official who engineered a way to outflank campaign finance laws and somehow didn’t know that her husband was running a major drug-dealing operation out of her own house?

Just a wild guess, but her attorneys probably were able to get her such a sweet deal, because she is a black democrat. Smile

Regarding the post about Lovely Warren above. If this were a conservative politician in a conservative area that was shown such leniency by local prosecutors. The federal government would swoop in with Federal charges of weapons possession while dealing drugs.

Our justice system is broken and we all know it.
