Not law enforcement agencies. A law enforcement agency.

Minneapolis residents are just one week out from voting on a controversial proposal that could see the city’s police department replaced with a “Department of Public Safety.”

Voters will weigh a ballot measure known as City Question 2 during Minneapolis municipal race on Nov. 2 amid calls from activists and left-leaning politicians to “defund the police” in the wake of George Floyd’s death in the city last year.

The measure, which has already divided residents, would get rid of the Minneapolis Police Department and replace it with an agency that uses a “comprehensive public health approach” to safety, according to the ballot question.

Opponents argue the measure will defund the department and fail to address rising crime across the city.

Those who support it, however, claim it will allow mental health or substance abuse experts to respond to some emergency calls.

If the measure is passed, the city council and newly elected mayor will have the legal power to structure the new department.

It's hard sometimes to know where to put a comment. I chose this thread, since the [financial] overthrow is from within.

Biden's Justice Department is close to rewarding each illegal alien who was separated from their kids close to half a million dollars EACH. Plus permanent legal status. Plus the same USD to the kids.

You, your wife, your two-three kids jump the immigration queue, get caught, get separated, claim psychological trauma, get admitted permanently, and start life with close to $2M tax free ?!?!? Where do I sign up?

SAN DIEGO -- The U.S. Justice Department is in talks to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to each child and parent who was separated under a Trump-era practice of splitting families at the border, a person familiar with discussions to settle lawsuits said Thursday.

The Wall Street Journal first reported that the government was considering payments around $450,000 to each person affected. A person familiar with the talks told The Associated Press that figure was under consideration but changed, though not dramatically. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions are private.

About 5,500 children were split from their parents under President Donald Trump's “zero tolerance” policy, under which parents were separated from their children to face criminal prosecution for crossing the border illegally, according to court filings in a federal case in San Diego. Inadequate tracking systems caused many to be apart for an extended time. The payments are intended to compensate for the psychological trauma.

Attorneys for the families are also seeking permanent legal status in the United States for those separated under the practice, which a judge halted in June 2018, six days after Trump stopped it amid an international backlash.

Leaders of the city’s Black Lives Matter movement on Wednesday threatened “riots” and “bloodshed” in the streets if Mayor-elect Eric Adams reverses the abolition of the NYPD’s controversial anti-crime units.

“If he thinks that they’re going to go back to the old ways of policing, then we are going to take to the streets again. There will be riots, there will be fire and there will be bloodshed because we believe in defending our people,” said Hawk Newsome, co-founder of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, after a heated meeting with Adams in Brooklyn Borough Hall.

“So there is no way that he is going to let some Gestapo come in here and harm our people,” Newsome told the Daily News. “We pray for peace but … prepare for the worst.”

Another BLM co-founder, Chivona Newsome, promised to “shut the city down” and “shut down City Hall.” She went on to vow that BLM would “give him hell and make it a nightmare.”

And all of this is being done because the incoming Mayor is “threatening” to restore order to the city streets and reduce the crime rate.

The strange part of all of this is that it’s not as if Adams is ignoring BLM. He invited the group’s co-founders in for a meeting that was live-streamed on social media. But it quickly turned into a shouting match when they began yelling at him and making demands. Adams interrupted them with some voice-raising of his own, telling them that they are “on the ground” and that they need to “stop the violence in my community.”

Anyone who has been paying attention probably isn’t very surprised at this response from Black Lives Matter. But this does give us an opportunity to ask some questions of all of the mainstream media outlets that will be covering current events in New York City next year. If BLM makes good on their promises, will you continue to tell the nation that all of the action is simply “mostly peaceful protests?” Or will you finally admit that the Black Lives Matter movement has been instigating riots and criminal violence for years?

BLM are the true domestic terrorists. Just like the Black Panthers before them. And at some point, they will need to be dealt with, in a similar fashion as was done to the Black Panthers. Regards 18DAI

It's a form of political extortion- What's the proper term for that type of threat to promote a political agenda?

Seems like it should be illegal and actionable to prevent it from happening.

More info here on BLM's recent terrorist threats.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...nti-crime-units.html

BLM leaders, including co-founder Hawk Newsome, got into a shouting match with Mayor-elect Eric Adams during a closed-door sit-down on Wednesday

Adams has pledged to reinstate the NYPD's anti-crime units, about 600 plainclothes officers that fight violent crime

Newsome threatened 'riots' and 'bloodshed' if the units are brought back

'We will shut the city down. We will shut down City Hall, and we will give him hell and make it a nightmare,' Chivona Newsome, Hawk's sister, said

But Adams hit back, saying BLM also needs to be held accountable and not just make demands
