I know it is going to be good for me *because* it is going to be good for the country as a whole. I may pay a little more taxes (the cap on state and local tax deductions will sting, but it is only fair) or I may pay a little less taxes (as a farmer and investor I have to work out exactly what happened over the year before I can figure out the tax consequences of what happened.). Regardless of how the individual tax provisions directly affect me, the corporate changes will light a fire under the economy and a rising tide does tend to lift all boats.

I mentioned this a few months ago, but lower income citizens now qualify for health insurance with near or even $0 monthly premium. The is due to the elimination of the CSRs. (At least check, enrollment on healthcare.gov increased over last year's enrollment figures.)

That is just terrible! I am horrified that only 700 people have left the EPA. I’d feel much better if it were 7,000, or better yet, the whole thing was shut down and Scott Pruitt were reassigned to another agency to shut that one down too!

I'm a Ron-Swanson-esque civil servant who loves slashing and burning as much as anyone, but EPA *does* do some important things (no, Virginia, industry WON'T police itself re: massive dumping of contagions into waterways or the disposal of hazardous waste by burying it in vacant lots. They didn't BEFORE EPA, they wouldn't now.)

Problem is, much of what they do is driven by the regulatory process-- vice statute-- and because of this, can be driven by whoever sits at 1600. Scary stuff, in the last eight, with agenda-driven rulings and enforcement.

Back to Reagan-era size suits me, personally. Focus on legit criminal violators where there's demonstrable harm to public health and safety. Other than that, GTFO of the way.

what needs to happen with a lot of the 3 letter agencies is that they need to be stripped of their rule-making authority that are in effect laws that don't go through Congress

make a recommendation, have Congress vote on it. But first, justify it with a real CBA and have the budget office score it.

I am glad the EPA is downsizing - it has a long way to go

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

We are finally on the path forward.

Thank you, President Trump. And if I may, I offer these words to all Americans from a similarly thoughtful leader from years past. (Worth a watch)

http://www.breitbart.com/big-g...judge-nominees-2017/

President Donald Trump released his ninth wave of judicial nominees before Christmas, nominating ten lawyers for federal courts throughout the country.

This month, the president set an all-time record for the most appointments to the federal appeals courts during the first year of a presidency when the Senate confirmed his twelfth nominee, breaking the previous record of eleven held by Presidents John Kennedy and Richard Nixon.

The president had previously made 58 judicial nominations during 2017. Coupled with the confirmation of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court and additional judges to the federal trial courts, President Trump has appointed 22 judges to lifetime appointments on the federal bench.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the president nominated another ten picks, bringing his total number of judicial nominations for 2017 to 68. This is the ninth wave of judicial nominations the White House has sent to the Senate.

This latest batch includes one nominee to the powerful federal appeals courts and nine to the federal trial courts.

I'm so exhausted it's incredible.

It's been a great year so far and Trump has done an amazing job given all that has been thrown in his way.

Hard to remember another president who was so eager to work w congress. President Trump has tried to work w REPs and DEMs. I think Lyndon Johnson was a deal maker like this too.

obama was too busy entertaining Hollywood on the taxpayer dime.

The timing of this Ace of Spades blog post is fortuitous, indeed.

Donald Trump is the Right Man at the Right Time [Warden]

Donald Trump the Right Man at the Right Time [Warden]

'If you didn't already know that today's media is nothing more than a propaganda arm for the left, an easy giveaway would be their reaction to the Trump presidency. Just about every mainstream political analyst will tell you how much he loves the history, strategy and workings of politics. That, of course, isn't true at all. Media members are passionate about their political opinions and they certainly do get excited when they think they've won a political victory, but that is simply common partisanship, not a true interest in politics as a field of study.

To a truly dispassionate observer of political strategy and history, the rise of Donald Trump would be the event of a lifetime. His emergence and later success would evoke interest, not animosity. His presidency was a Black Swan event that any non-partisan would be immensely motivated to deconstruct.'

Trump’s twitter habits have often been a point of contention for both his supporters and opponents. Many have advised the president to stop using the platform after many distracting controversies. However, Trump keeps tweeting. He is even winning over some of his biggest critics. This morning Leader McConnell said of Trump’s twitter habits:

“With regards to the President’s tweeting habits, I haven’t been a fan until this week. I’m warming up to the tweets actually.”
