Firehoses and Lawn Darts

Two teams on a soccer field, twelve players each side. Each team gets one high-pressure firehose. The other eleven members of each team get 18 lawn darts.

Capture the opposing team's firehose. That's it. No referees, no rules except you can't leave the field unless you're on a stretcher.

Two 20 minute halfs. 20 minute halftime to remove the dead and treat puncture wounds. The second half, another 18 lawn darts are handed out to each member.

You want a fuckin' gold medal? How bad you want it?

I had not watched the Olympics in decades and was very surprised by changes in the sports that I used to participate.

Fencing- totally different from the 1960s; we would rarely allow the tip of the foil away from the center of the opponent.

Windsurfing - astounded by the use of water foils, bringing the board (now very ugly boards) completely out of the water!

Free pistol - what free pistol! My Hammerli’s and TOZ are as extinct as the Dodo bird

Air pistol - at least those seem the same

I am stuck in the 1970’s; maybe 1960’s… ah well.

Are the fire hoses just laying there in opposition territory being guarded, like in capture the flag, or are they hooked up to water - being more of an active part of the game - and the winning team just has to gain control of the opposing hose?

We've enjoyed watching the gymnastics, swimming, diving, women's beach volleyball, track, wrestling and water polo.

Missed all the shooting and archery which would have related to the original Olympics events. Must have been on TV in ungodly early morning hours.

https://www.thetruthaboutguns....s-china-usa-win-big/

'It’s a wrap for the shooting events at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the world saw phenomenal shooting with five new Olympic records set in 14 different medal events and 42 medals up for grabs. China showed they are currently the ones to beat winning the most shooting medals in Paris with 10 including five gold, two silver and three bronze. The USA (one gold, three silver, one bronze) and Korea (two gold, three silver) were next with five medals each and Italy followed suit with four medals (one gold, two silver, one bronze). India, Switzerland and Guatemala each joined the countries earning more than one medal with two apiece. '

Hoping they'll include Forty-Three Man Squamish for 2028.

I LOVED 43-Man Squamish!! I always hoped for a tie after regulation so there'd be an overtime, because I was really good at dirty limericks and won a few games that way!

The women's beach volleyball commentator said the Swiss player had a great knuckle-pokey. After carefully stuyding the replay, I would agree.

Sad to say they beat USA, 2 of 3.

While a ton of stupidity no question. Have never watched the opening or closing ceremonies.

Stupid events galore. Athletes that are impossible to root for, etc.

I have watched a little. Some good stories. The gal that won the 200 meters today was great. The woman' discuss gold medalist. Wow. The woman's 800 meter gold medalist from Great Britain. The pole vault gold medalist is amazing. The Cuban heavy weight wrestler, whoa.

Valarie Allman. After winning, she said she can't wait to get back to TX to eat a pound of barbecue brisket. Big Grin

Too bad she can't act, b/c she has the looks and build for Wonder Woman. If you've ever fantasized about 'death by snu snu', she'd be a good candidate to kill you.
