A career in politics will eventually corrupt anyone, and a man like McCain who was a POW back then was no doubt broken in some ways before his political career even started. He was an honorable man early on, a patriot even, but he's been taking his demons out on the rest of us for far too long now, and I'm delighted that phase of his life has finally ended. I'm pleased for the ending, and respectful of his past, in equal measure. RIP, former POW. No one except for those who were the same can really know what that was like. I've always thought he was just barely hiding long standing grudges over it all. I suppose we should be sort of thankful he didn't damage us even more, by spying or literal treason, and in hindsight it's a good thing he never became President and held that power. At least his replacement won't have the same clout/seniority/power. | |||

Yep. He ran the worse presidential campaign in modern history handing the presidency to Obama on a silver platter with 60 votes in the senate. Well considering you haven’t sacrificed as much as him (using your criteria), if there WAS someone who did have said criteria, you apparently couldn’t having said rational discussion, since you aren’t worthy. But I don’t agree with your stipulation that previous actions make a person untouchable - especially one who willing enters public life for as along as John McCain.
