Gutpile, the man is dead, so that should do.

If you'd like to shame members, do it by email. There is no room for your self important admonishment here.

Let's wrap this up.

Arc.

TAllen01, I am sure that many many SF members have served in the armed forces. I was not there with them but I do believe their testimony here on SF. Regarding JM, it has been posited here that JM was an inferior pilot in peacetime and made poor decisions over Vietnam. I leave it to them to make the case.

Regarding politics, he seemed okay until the presidential election and after. Thence he exhibited symptoms of the Stockholm Syndrome. Maybe his ostensible 'love child' will turn up soon.

Arc, I anticipate Dr McCoy arriving shortly.

US Congressman Sam Johnson from Texas (since 1991) was a decorated fighter pilot (Korea and Vietnam) who was shot down in North Vietnam, and was one of eleven POWs that were called the Alcatraz Gang for their resistance to the NV. These men spent 7 years in solitary and were beaten nightly.

Johnson has one of the most conservative voting records in Congress. He represented his constituents. McCain isn’t even in the same league as this true hero. How many have even heard of Sam Johnson.

Im glad McCain is gone. If you want to recognize a real hero of the Vietnam War, we have a real one in Colonel Johnson. McCain ain’t it.

Johnson isn’t seeking re-election this year.

Senator McCain served honorably in the Vietnam war. It is hard to argue that. But that was a clear war against a foreign enemy who looked different than us and lived on another continent.

Today we are fighting a shadow war against American citizens who are harder to identify and who live next door. In this war he pretended to be an ally while aiding and abetting the enemy. I will not celebrate his death but I will not mourn it either.

The best I can say...May God have mercy on his soul.

On other boards I frequent (Yes, Virginia, there ARE other boards Eek ) the sheep are all climbing aboard the "hero" and "Great American" train.

No point in crapping in their punch bowl I guess, but I've had to give up even scanning any thread with "McCain" in the title.

SWMBO is thoroughly disgusted with the TV coverage too. She actually turned the damn thing off (and believe me, that's a noteworthy event) and listened to audio books and worked on a real pisser of a jigsaw puzzle most of the night.

Yup, the MSM news will be hard to swallow for awhile - They will ride that train big time. Even FOX is on the bandwagon. It is taboo to speak ill of the dead - even when they deserve it.

Roll Eyes

Actually, this would be a good time to fire Rod Rosenstein and then Jeff Sessions. Two birds with one stone - The MSM would hardly even notice.

Of course it is, and like other taboos, major commercial businesses like those that make up the BS media ignore them at their peril.

Well considering you haven’t sacrificed as much as him (using your criteria), if there WAS someone who did have said criteria, you apparently couldn’t having said rational discussion, since you aren’t worthy.

But I don’t agree with your stipulation that previous actions make a person untouchable - especially one who willing enters public life for as along as John McCain.

It’s not the stupidest thing I’ve heard, but it’s in the top 10.

Yep. The man was a traitor to this country, and recent proof has shown he is a swamp creature and a wannabe tin pot dictator. Even in death, he seems to fool some people still, that you have people who are either blatantly naive that want to make the type of "war hero" claims, or they know the truth but choose, much like McCain, to attempt to manipulate the will of other people.

The man is dead. There is no need to speak ill of him. It will not accomplish anything.

When he was a POW he did what he though was The Right Thing.

In recent years he appeared to be defiant and stubborn, and made decisions that went against the principles on which he was elected. I have seen this before in people I have been acquainted with, who succumbed to brain cancer. Why don't we at least consider the possibility that it was the disease, rather than the man's core, that led him in this direction.

It's over. Let him rest, and let us hope that his replacement will be more in line with our principles.

He has absolutely no honor. Some of you guys need to slap yourself into a little bit of reality. Shame on you.

Ummm, a bit extreme if you ask me. Show us on the doll where McCain hurt you.

I'm really not surprised that you don't see what McCain has done to us, Don. This is my shocked face. Had the Beast won, McCain would be sitting by her throne while McCain's deep state continued to weaponize the government against people like me. McCain would be fiddling the whole time.

I understand that you don't see that as a problem.

I figure McCain just didn't become a traitor in the last 20 years. He's likely bee one his whole life.

You won't understand either way. By you asking to "list all the things" that McCain has done, means you've turned a blind eye to every bit of it, so it tells me that you'll just dismiss his votes on healthcare, the fact that he had staffers sitting in on meetings to organize weaponizing the government against conservatives, his constant lying and pandering to the left. His positions on immigration, gun control, taxes, etc. none of which are surprising, but the fact that he tried to actively bring doing conservatives with the IRS, all the while claiming to be one. And that is the stuff that he was caught at. Yeah

I can explain it to you, but you won't understand it, likely because you see nothing wrong with it.

Well I was going to stay out. Don't feel like bashing the dead, but if you can't figure out in at least one way McCain hurt you you are a idiot or being obtuse. I'll give you a big clue, it has to do with your entire body.

I understand why many hate him, but I'm not going to dance on his grave. He doesn't get a pass from being spoken ill about because he's a war hero. Just not going to go pop a bottle of bubbly to celebrate his death.

My TV automatically tunes to CBS when it turns on. I about vomited at the McCain tributes and discussion on renaming a building. I couldn't change the channel fast enough.

Every honor he earned in Vietnam he lost by his erosion of values as Senator, in the end he was no different than Bill, Bernie, Schumer, Hiliary and Kerry to name a few, he made choices to lose all the respect and honor he had.

And, if I may add, the Keating debacle. Lots of "little people" hurt in that scam. McCain was reaching across the aisle even back then as the other four senators were democrats. But hey, that was just "poor judgement". Mad

I am glad I don't live in the kind of country you imagine. My Country's Constitution says nothing about I can't be critical of someone's political views and the damage it can do to my country and family's well being because of his military service. There are countries that throw citizens in a gulag for being critical of such politicians. Maybe you want to move to one.
