Pappy Van Winkle. In my opinion, not worth the money.

I have a bottle of Barton's 1792 that is better.

Check out the Redbreast 12yr sometime if you haven't already, a Single-Pot-Still Irish Whiskey, and a tad less 'medicinal tasting' than Jameson or Bushmills, IMO, and thus a bit tastier, and slightly more like American and Canadian whiskeys. It's still clearly Irish Whiskey, though.

Similarly, though much harder to find outside of Ireland, is Green Spot, another Single Pot Still whiskey.

Though I've had a bunch of Jameson and Bushmills, Redbreast amd Green Spot are the only two I like (enough to buy, at least).

You guys keep some excellent French wines around your home here, given your wife and visits?

I bring some back when I go, but it's not nearly often enough. So many great choices, and values.

New one for me tonight - Auchentoshan 12 year. A little surprised, but it was a very good 2 drams. More floral and light than I am used to, being a Lowland from the west coast, but a good dram none the less. I could see myself drinking a dram with breakfast tea.
