I know we all have at least one fire extinguisher in the house.
If you don't get some NOW!!

Looks like millions of Kidde extinguishers are being recalled going back to the 70s though I thought usability was only like 15 years.

Anyway here is the link to see if yours are affected!
https://inmarmarketaction.com/kidde/Kidde284US/

All of mine are and were purchased from Sams last year in a 2 pack.

The one in my truck is a recall. I already filed on line and they are sending me a new one with instructions on what to do with the recall extinguisher.

Thanks. The news is hitting the mainstream press during the last couple of hours. Not sure if it will be a "big" news item that goes viral.

The one I have in the kitchen is recalled, and I've got to check the others.

Tried to fill out the form and it's stuck in "processing" status, so they may be a bit overwhelmed with submissions.

Have a metal handled Kidd and a push button First Alert.

Looks looks I'm good to go on both.

Thanks for the notice.

Thank you for the notice. Mine qualify for recall and I would not otherwise have known.

Luckily, I have two bottles, one a First Alert, the other Kidde.

Going by their website, my Kidde has no model number and the date code is too short, so I couldn't file for a replacement there. (I tried, but it wouldn't accept incomplete info)

I called their toll-free, got somebody in India who couldn't help because he didn't speak enough English to understand my questions.

I'll try again in a couple weeks, and if it doesn't work, fire extinguishers are cheap enough that I'll buy another First Alert as backup.

Post pics of the label.
Took me about 15 minutes to figure out mine.

I got far enough in to where they ask for ID info. Our extinguisher is so old, they do not even have info on it.

Off to Costco tomorrow to buy new ones.

Went online this morning, filled in the form, and they said a new one would be out in 15-20 days.

I got two expired extinguishers from my sister, fired one off to check it, kept the other. Guess I'll test that one too when the replacement comes. Sure makes a mess! Maybe I'll do it outdoors this time.

I have two of them and was able to decipher that they are both affected. Just submitted for replacements with no issues.

For a long time, like 40 years, I've preferred the ones with metal valves. The problem is I have no idea what brand they are. I also have this bias against dry chemical extinguishers. Probably one of those over by the front door, with the one on the other side of the door is Halon with a metal valve. Then I've gotta take a hike out to the garage and see what that reveals.
