I wonder if the whole Maxwell client list discussion from Elon is a way for him to get Bill Gates to consider shutting the hell up?

Methinks, quite a few Twitter employees are going to get fired for being useless!

I think one of the main reasons so many pro-censorship advocates are frightened about the Twitter takeover is because it'll reveal the depth of active censorship & narrative engineering going on at Twitter; also, many leftys are going to be revealed as having tremendous amounts of fake followers. Might even show covert government collaboration and/or directed actions from govt, which we know as being Fascism.

Job interest in Twitter skyrocketed more than 250% since Elon Musk moved to take over. But current employees are nervous.

Elon Musk cast Twitter’s future into uncertainty when he made a successful $44 billion bid to acquire the company last month. He will take over as temporary CEO once the deal is complete, CNBC reported Thursday morning.

While countless Musk fans, and a slight majority of Americans—59%—approve of the takeover according to recent data from The Harris Poll, some current Twitter staff worry that it will dramatically change the company’s culture, and overall direction.

It’s still unclear how a Musk-run Twitter might impact the company’s ability to retain current staff and recruit new employees. The company presented the takeover as a potential threat to its staffing abilities in an SEC filing Monday.

But at least casual interest in open positions at the company has skyrocketed since the Tesla billionaire showed serious interest in taking over the company.

On Thursday, Daniel Zhao, a senior economist and data scientist at the job insights platform Glassdoor, tweeted that interest in job openings at the social media giant was up 263% between April 24 and April 30.

In a statement to Fortune, Zhao clarified that interest is defined by the average daily clicks on Twitter job postings on the platform, compared to the average daily job clicks in a March 2022 baseline prior to the news breaking of Musk’s plans for the company.

Though clicks do not necessarily correlate to actual job applications submitted, and likely reflect current media attention, the increase shows that people appear to be interested not just in the media story, but in work available at the company.

“Say what you will about Elon, he does have a large fanbase of ppl excited to work for him,” Zhao tweeted. “He's much more likely to capitalize on that attraction as CEO than owner.”

On Friday, Musk shared some of his own thoughts about hiring at Twitter, sharing Fortune's reporting.

“If Twitter acquisition completes, company will be super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec & server hardware,” he tweeted on Friday morning.

"I strongly believe that all managers in a technical area must be technically excellent. Managers in software must write great software or it’s like being a cavalry captain who can’t ride a horse!" he added.

In its SEC report this week, Twitter said that Musk’s takeover might cost the company advertisers, staff, and users regardless of the outcome of the takeover — if it reaches a final conclusion or if it somehow fails along the way.

“The announcement and pendency of our agreement to be acquired by affiliates of Elon Musk may have an adverse effect on our business results, and a failure to complete the merger could have a material and adverse effect on our business, results of operation, financial condition, cash flows, and stock price,” the company wrote.

The report specifically highlighted the possibility that the company’s current period of uncertainty might lead to issues related to staffing. A consequence of the merger, the company wrote, could be its “inability to attract and retain key personnel and recruit prospective employees, and the possibility that our current employees could be distracted, and their productivity decline as a result.”

Musk made his unsolicited bid to acquire the social media platform last month after a plan to join the company’s board disintegrated. He has since talked about what he views as limits on free speech on the platform, having previously criticized Twitter’s decision to permanently ban former president Donald Trump following the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Musk has also disparaged current Twitter employees like Vijaya Gadde, the company’s widely-respected top lawyer who has led the company through its many political quagmires, including the decision to ban Trump.

Twitter’s board voted unanimously to recommend the deal move forward.

That's not a valid conclusion to draw from that data. It could as well simply be interest in how Musk's acquisition of Twitter affects their staffing, as reflected by job postings.

Elon Musk Puts Twitter Employees on Alert
By Jack Phillips

More than a week after it was announced Elon Musk would purchase Twitter, the world’s richest person issued a notice to Twitter employees about what they can expect.

Among several other expectations, Musk said that he values a positive work ethic. He was responding to his previous Twitter post about the direction he wants to see Twitter take after he assumes ownership of it.

“Work ethic expectations would be extreme, but much less than I demand of myself,” Musk said on Twitter over the weekend.

On April 25, the Tesla CEO and Twitter announced that the firm accepted Musk’s $44 billion offer. Meanwhile, it was reported that Musk would serve as the firm’s temporary CEO once the deal is completed, although Musk hasn’t issued a public comment on that claim.

A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on May 5 signaled Musk raised $7.14 billion toward funding the purchase of Twitter.

In his previous post, the multi-billionaire touted Twitter under his leadership would be “super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec [and] server hardware.”

“I strongly believe that all managers in a technical area must be technically excellent,” Musk also wrote. “Managers in software must write great software or it’s like being a cavalry captain who can’t ride a horse!”

When the deal was announced, Musk suggested that he would place an emphasis on free speech after the takeover, which could take weeks or months to complete. Previously, Musk has criticized Twitter’s content moderation policies.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a statement. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential—I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

On May 6, Twitter and Musk were sued by a Florida pension fund seeking to prevent Musk from quickly carrying out the takeover of the company. In a complaint filed in Delaware, the Orlando Police Pension Fund wrote that Musk can’t complete the takeover until at least 2025 unless two-thirds of shares that are not owned by him are approved.

The lawsuit said Musk became an “interested stockholder” after taking a more than 9 percent Twitter stake, requiring the delay. Twitter and its board, including Chief Executive Parag Agrawal, are also defendants.

Musk plans to fire about a thousand of Twitter's 7500 employees (all the "woke" assholes, I presume) but then, plans to swell the number to about 11,000 employees, with an eye towards savvy tech people.

All the purple hair, nose ring crowd better get their resumes together. They have perhaps six months left at Twitter.

If and when the purchase of Twitter is finalized, Musk says he will reverse Trump's ban.

quote:
"Permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots, or scam, spam accounts… I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump," Musk said. "I think that was a mistake, because it alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice."

It’s been my experience that managers that lead by example inspire good work ethics in their employees; it also makes it easier to winnow out the slacker chaff.

He even interrupted his paternity leave to comment. AWESOME.

What's with all the negative waves, Moriarty?
Pretty sure this isn't Musk's first rodeo. I suspect he knows what he is doing and has planned out moves, countermoves, and counter-countermoves before he even started the process of buying Twitter. Twitter wouldn't be firing/letting go execs, easing up on their censoring and restoring banned accounts if they thought the deal wasn't basically a slam dunk. These administrative state moves and "investigations" are last gasps of desperate flailing and red meat for their base in my opinion.

Not only is Musk smart, he also had to borrow beaucoup bucks from other people for the move. I'm sure those people did due diligence before shelling out hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars.
