For Jussie, what’s important is he really just wants his career and his life back. Again, he did not ask for any of this. He was a victim of a crime. This has completely spiraled out of control and become a political event at this point, and his goal and focus right now is just getting his life back on track.

He’s not even started healing from the initial attack because he’s been dealing with everything what’s happened since then. I don’t know, I mean, we’re shocked at the mayor and the police superintendent doubling down yesterday when the prosecutor after a dispassion look at the evidence realized that it does not hold up and chose to voluntarily dismiss all counts and expunge his record.

So at this point, we’re going to weigh our options and see how this develops.

The Obamas have their fingers all over this mess.

A grand jury then indicted Smollett on 16 counts of disorderly conduct earlier this month.

Smollett, 36, has maintained his innocence. He told police in January that he was attacked by two people who used homophobic and racial slurs and placed a rope around his neck.

After his charges were dropped, Johnson and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanual denounced the decision made by the State’s Attorney’s Office.

Glandian said on the ABC morning show Wednesday, “We’re shocked at the mayor and the police superintendent doubling down yesterday when the prosecutor, after a disspassioned look at the evidence, realized that this did not hold up and chose to voluntarily dismiss all counts and expunge his record.”

The State’s Attorney’s Office, meanwhile, has insisted that dropping Smollett’s charges does not “exonerate” him of what he is accused of.

And that goes for his nasty lawyer as well.

If we was smart he would take this gift and go home quietly but like any fool who thinks he can't be touched he is probably going to scream from the rooftops about his innocence and that will hopefully be his undoing. The 2 brothers who allegedly faked the homophobic and racist "attack" against Jussie Smollett will not go public and stand by their claim it was all staged ... and we've learned their lawyer has quit as a result.

Moments after Jussie was cleared by the State's Attorney, the lawyer for Abel and Ola urged them to make a public statement, standing by their claim Jussie faked the "attack." We're told they refused, and ultimately their lawyer, Gloria Schmidt, bailed on them, saying she didn't want to rep them anymore.

The question ... why would Abel and Ola go radio silent, especially because Jussie essentially pointed the finger right back at them, saying he never lied and the "attack" was real? The police, prosecutors and even the 2 brothers say they were the ones in the street with Jussie ... but everyone other than the actor says it was a hoax.

Smollett attorney wants focus on brothers’ role in attack


Now that charges have been dropped against Jussie Smollett, the "Empire" actor's attorney is trying to shift attention back on two brothers who told police they were paid by Smollett to help stage a racist, anti-gay attack on him.

Patricia Holmes is a lawyer for Smollett

"The two men who attacked him have indicated that they attacked him, so we already know who attacked him," Holmes said.

On Wednesday, another Smollett attorney, Tina Glandian, told "Good Morning America" that the two brothers were lying.

Smollett was charged with filing a false police report of the attack. The brothers' attorney, Gloria Schmidt, said then that the brothers did not testify as part of any plea deal with prosecutors and that they were not granted any immunity from prosecution.

Smollett's lawyer said the brothers had backed up the actor's version of events.

"The Osundairo brothers said more than once that the $3,500 check they received was for exactly what Jussie said. They were his trainers," Holmes said.

During her interview Wednesday, Glandian acknowledged that Smollett talked and texted with the brothers in the hours before the attack. She said they discussed training and nutrition as Smollett's flight to Chicago was delayed.

But she said Smollett had no idea who attacked him until the brothers were later identified by police.

It makes sense if someone has slipped them an envelope full of untraceable cash. Nothing else really makes any sense.

Also, I do not believe for one second that he is really considering a lawsuit against the city. That's absurd - unless again, he has an understanding from the city's legal department that they would agree to settle any lawsuit without bringing out the mountain of evidence they have against him.

One aspect that is not getting a lot of attention- the mayoral runoff election in Chicago is next week, between former federal prosecutor Lori Lightfoot, black and gay, against Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Board President, also black. Lightfoot has been labeled as a LE "Nazi" by the Preckwinkle camp; she has defended cops in her private job and been appointed to different Police boards by Mayor Raul Emanual.

Interestingly, Prickwinkle's protege and former chief of staff was Kim Foxx.

Lightfoot is leading the vicious race by a large margin. Interesting stuff.

I said it a page or two back. Either it was a hate crime or a hoax. If the States Attorney thinks that he didn't make it up, then we are left with it must have been a hate crime and these guys need to do serious time.

Either way a crime was committed, someone needs to pay. Maybe it was actually a hate crime and Smollett was just prepaying for a year in advance, and had no idea his instructors are racist MAGA hat wearers. Throw the book at them for their racism and homophobia.
