Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, in an interview with the New York Times also said it was incorrect to refer to the firearm used in the incident as a "prop gun," as has been done in media reports.

“It was a legit gun,” Carmack-Altwies told the paper. “It was an antique-era appropriate gun.”

The prosecutor said an "enormous amount of bullets" had been found on the set and an investigation was needed into the nature of that ammunition.

Carmack-Altwies told The Times the investigation is focusing on ballistics to try and determine what kind of round killed Hutchins, as well as who had put the ammunition in the firearm before the shooting. Court documents released Monday show that investigators recovered nine spent casings, as well as three black revolvers and "loose ammo" from the scene.

as usual investigators withhold info and just don't tell the public what is going on.

Prop is short for property. A film set has a property department and prop master to handle & oversee props used in filming. Props are often fake and replicas, but it's incorrect to assume a prop is always so.

A weapons master &/or armorer are subsets related to the props dept who specifically handle the weapons.

In other words, a real gun, replica gun, and rubber dummy gun used in filming are all props. A real sword or knife is a prop as well as a fake one.

When dealing w/ anti-gun ppl, it's important to use correct terminology and understand how they misconstrue terms to use against us. Assault weapon & assault rifle are especially egregious examples of that.

BB, pellet, & airsoft guns designed to look like real guns are still guns. They're replicas that shoot steel or plastic BBs, but when someone gets shot for threatening someone else w/ one, the anti-gunners will call it a toy.

After Brandon Lee was killed when filming The Crow, the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers clamped down on firearms handling on sets. In addition to cardinal rules of gun safety, there were a myriad of industry & union rules that were violated for the Helyna Hutchins death to happen.

You know when high-profile defensive shootings make the news, the shooter will be subject to the court of criminal law, court of civil law, and court of public opinion. This one is no different. Baldwin may escape prosecution, but the civil & public court ramifications will haunt him for the rest of his life. In addition to playing the film's protagonist, Baldwin is also one of the producers, which increases the liability shit storm he faces, especially w/ all the union violations surfacing.

Then there is what is known as the hero prop.

A real weapon that will either be loaded with blanks or dummy bullets within a close focal shot of the camera so it won't look fake. Whether it be a sword or gun. There were lots of rubber M16s in Full Metal Jacket. Then there was the converted blank firing hero props.

I own one. I have Brendan Frazier's MAS 73 he used in The Mummy. It's a real 19th century French military gun capable of using real ammo.

^^^Removed by the Uploader...Hmmm

Well that's interesting, and unfortunate for those that did not get an opportunity to view it because it was VERY Informative, and presented a VERY Compelling case against Baldwin.

The original was good. But it appears that he took it down himself.

Here's another, where Branca appears with Dana Loesch. Covers many of the same points, although not to the level of detail the original presented.

Any member of my gun club would have done a better job of keeping everyone alive, and would have done it free of charge, let alone getting paid big bucks like those gun prop contractors. Those stupid fucks need to get fired, sued out of existence, and go begging for a job at MacDonalds. Wait a minute, you have to wash your hands before you go to work at MacDonalds, that's just too much for the sort of shitheads who were running that set. I have no words I'm so royally pissed, this is beyond the pale.
