Thanks to UAL, the other airlines are probably changing their "Policy" to: "We'll keel haul any crew that even thinks about pulling a stunt like that."

No, "the contract" reigns supreme. If there's a contract, YOU AGREED TO IT!!! (Just say this to anyone who says they will now boycott UAL. It'll work like a charm!)

The "manager" should have steadily increased the reward amount to de-plane. At around $2,000 plus rebooked flight plus hotel, they'd be getting some serious room on that jet.

If they know they need employees elsewhere, DON'T LET PEOPLE BOARD.

I always travel with a carry-on only, and my comfort level to change plans is $800-$1200.

But, that is not how they think ... they believe that they are empowered to do whatever, with all extreme means at their availability to threaten you, use force to comply to their demands.

I've experienced with quite a few flight attendants (who now post 9/11) feel justified in using police force tactics to scare you into compliance. When I'm right, I call their bluff. It's not often, but enough that there is a clear pattern and message to travellers.

Now, I'm sure their are plenty of customer incidents that require force due to some drunk bastard, but I assure you there are flight attendants that shouldn't be working with CUSTOMERS who have every reason to be there (paid for it) and have a valid perspective on service.

It's a power-trip deal ... you know, El Capitan and his ship - all that jazz ... the customer has no authority, or reciprocal "force" to get fair treatment.

Sit there, be quiet, shut up or we'll use the bully force of the powerful, armed elites of which you're not privy too - you are disarmed at "security".

if they aren't competent enough to deal with the people that actually pay for tickets...how can they be competent enough to have an FAA operating certificate?

If you think that the FAA is going to decertify UAL over this, you're dreaming.

Meaningless. Watch and see what happens. Some guy trying to fly from point A to point B doesn't give a fuck about stock prices but he certainly cares about being treated poorly and possibly assaulted because clowns can't get their act together. Just watch. You'll see. Longterm damage.

Just ask Target about how alienating their customers works out longterm, and all that took was one tweet by a stupid, pandering, loudmouthed CEO. The UAL incident is far worse than that, and anyone who has ever flown commercially can relate.

I live in NC, and I'll drive to anywhere in the lower 48 before I fly again.

Hawaii or Alaska may make me change my mind, since both of those are bucket list places. BUT the likelihood of me going to either is about the same as monkeys flying out of my butt.

Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.

IMO, every American should go to the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites.

Statistically, you're more likely to be beaten walking to your mailbox than beaten while seated in your airplane seat.

No, check your ticket. It's in the contract. This information should prevent people from turning their backs on us in droves.

Oh, wait. that's not working. Huh. Go figure.

Well it all hinges on the definition of "board". Most people believe when their butt is in the seat shown their "boarding pass", they have boarded the aircraft. UAL clearly feels they can denying "boarding" at anytime up until they deboard you. What's next? Reaccommedating passengers by involuntarily deboarding them at 35,000 feet?

Dude. Seriously. Duuuude...

When I ask to buy a ticket to go from a to b, on date x, at time y and an airline sells me a ticket, we have an agreement.

Any airline coming in and saying, you know what? No, we're not going to do this. Oh, we'll get you there, but it won't be at the agreed time and date. It will be at a time and date of our choosing. Yes, we understand you abided by all the rules we put in place, but we're going to point to the fine print that says 'you're fucked' and there's nothing you can do about it. Bullshit.

I wasn't being serious at all.

My point was not even the fine print supports what UAL did. UAL's fine print talks about reasons passengers maybe denied boarding, the Dr. was boarded. There is nothing that supports dragging an otherwise decent passenger off the plane for the reasons they did.

Without that video, there would have been no apology from the CEO.

Even then, it only happened after the huge dust-up with the video going viral.

To hell with United.

Everyone on the planet has two cameras with them virtually all of the time, and the ability to almost instantaneously share those images with the entire world.

For any company out there that deals with the public- screw up at breakfast, be out of business by lunch.

Are your butt monkeys certified companion animals?

If not, you have to fly in the cargo area.

I can recommend a website to handle the companion animal certification. Its only $199 plus $27.50 shipping.

The monkeys have taken over the bar area of the resort and have assaulted the bartenders.

Vodka was probably a bad choice
