Some recent revisions to the Drake equation reduced the lower probability limits to the point where we may be alone in our galaxy. See https://gizmodo.com/drake-equa...gent-life-1851503974. If that’s even approximately correct, it would suggest that aliens appearing on earth would need intergalactic travel capability, not just interstellar!

Don’t know how many billions of years of technological advancement it would take to get that smart, but it seems like a tall order.

Has anyone else read these documents? The government is essentially saying that there’s a non-human intelligence on Earth, we’ve recovered their technology, and we’re actively monitoring them. This is wild!

The "report" is remarkable for its consistent lack of date/time data for any "incident." With the ubiquity of cameras in cell phones and other devices, where are the videos on YouTube, etc? Whoever is promoting these hoaxes should start thinking about doing a better job of it.

As for me, I welcome the ascendancy of our interstellar masters!

Are we alone in this galaxy? Maybe, maybe not. Alone in the universe? Maybe, maybe not.

Personally I think our galaxy is likely teeming with life, even intelligent life. Every day we are finding new extra solar planets. What we are learning about potential life just here in our own solar system; possible liquid water on mars and several moons would seem to indicate life might be quite common within our galaxy.

Now whether that life is intelligent, and if so, intelligent enough to have overcome the enormous (or potentially impossible) barriers to intergalactic travel is a whole ‘nother discussion.

If aliens landed tomorrow and asked to be taken to my leader I would not be surprised. But I would be equally unsurprised if we never discover another living thing in our galaxy or universe.

There’s a theory that our existence is something not unlike the Matrix and death is simply us waking up from the simulation. Not what I believe but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case either.

We don’t know what we don’t know. The universe is an amazing place and our understanding of it barely qualifies as a single scratch on that surface

It's a simple statement, but I believe it holds a lot of water.

When one says "life", what does that mean? Human life is one thing, but are there other forms we would not even understand?
