Yup. I wish he’d have stayed in FL and continued his good work here instead of letting his ego or his influencers get to his head.

I don’t hate him though. I hope he comes back to DL and focuses on backing Trump for 2024. If he does that and then runs again in 2028 he’ll likely have my support.

Quite a few of the DeSantis supporters are on Twitter I SAID TWITTER right now, declaring that they will never vote for Trump. Some of them are saying they want to try to make sure Trump loses.

It's preposterous, childish behavior and it speaks to the lack of maturity of some of the younger DeSantis supporters, and also to the fact that they pinned their hopes on DeSantis, not because they believe DeSantis is the best man for the job, and not to stop the Dems, but to stop Trump.

I agree, it’s childish and irresponsible. I favored DeSantis over Trump this time around, but will crawl through broken glass (I hope just figuratively) to vote for Trump in November.

January 21, 2025–one year from today—Trump will take the oath of office.

I reserve my utmost contempt for the likes of these impertinent, braying jackasses who throw these irrational, childlike tantrums and who refuse to do what is right because they somehow feel personally insulted by the words of President Trump. It's abominable behavior, and that of a spoiled brat. I detest these people. Grow the fuck up.

So, a vote for the Biden then? Or whomever they run when they force him out? Perhaps an obscure independent in protest? So stunning, so brave… Roll Eyes

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

President Trump's public behavior is often offensive and diminishes the office. He is uncouth, abrasive, willfully blind to his own faults, and probably has never--in his entire life-- admitted to a mistake. He has an appetite for larger government than I care for, and in his first administration made some absolutely atrocious staff/appointee picks. Absolutely horrible performance by a man who boasts of his ability to hire well.

He also governed well. He implemented pro-American policies at every turn. He supported our military and civil institutions and didn't cater to the extremes on either end of the spectrum. He made fantastic appointments to the Federal courts-- the Supreme Court on down-- that will influence the way our Constitution is interpreted for decades down the road. He supported our strategic allies, forged new alliances, brokered peace deals. He applied military pressure where warranted. He presided over an awesome economy. Oh, and he's not a filthy God-damned commie.

The second paragraph wins. If next week the left unearths a 30-year-old grainy video that features him, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and a taxidermied rhinoceros penis, I'll still vote for him. If in a pre-New Hampshire rally he pledges to abolish the color violet and institute the mandatory playing of It's A Small World over the PA system in Federal offices on the first Friday of every month, I'll still vote for him. If he gets caught engaging in ritualistic cannibalism on Epstein Island, I'll still vote for him, because the alternative is simply untenable.

This isn't a remotely close question.

I honestly haven't paid any attention to your political posting, or, really any of your posting. So, is this really you? Or, has some fucking leftist hijacked your account? Or, are you just messing around with us?

This reminds me of 46and2 seething with rage, when Roe v. Wade was overturned. Very strange.

And this is one of the two primary reasons why his campaign failed; he was just a tool to stop Trump, and willingly played along, alienating Trump voters with this approach (while needing their vote), but also doing other things to piss of MAGA, such as condemning the Jan. 6th protesters, blaming Trump for that day.

And the other primary reason; DeSantis was unelectable due to his utter lack of charisma and personalty and poor campaigning skills. He is simply not presidential material, Ramaswamy proved to be much better at it than him.

You and I simply disagree on this. I think DeSantis would be an excellent President. I think this because he's proven he can be an excellent governor.

You're right of course though that he was used by the ant-Trump faction, and he allowed himself to be used as a means to an end, getting elected. That was extremely bad judgement on his part, but I don't think it is at all fatal to his political future. In no time at all in fact I believe he'll be right back in the good graces of Trump and his supporters. It was the Presidential primary after all. These things are always ugly. Always. It's business. Nothing personal.

I agree. It's not fatal to his political future. He's still young. DeSantis’s experience running for President makes him a stronger politician. He will learn from it. Still, he would have shown better judgment waiting until 2028.

I bet this describes several US Presidents back before we had cameras following them around 24/7 and broadcasting selected snippets to the masses.

I don't care about the person, I care about the job they were hired to do.
