No. "They" are saying that one's sex isn't based on biology, but an individual's mindset. Others (a majority I think), would consider that mental state (and the semantic alteration of the concept of gender) to be not based in reality, and not useful to promote a common understanding.

Correcting those who are so obviously misinformed may be slightly rude, but should be considered an effort to help rather than an aggressive act. Somewhat like informing the shooter in the next lane that they need to concentrate on their muzzle discipline.

If sex (gender is for language and grammar) is only about mindset, then why is the demonstration and practice of it biological?

I agree they are miserable because of their choices.

The longest running domestic dispute on my beat involved two older lesbians. They operated a successful business and the PD and FOP used their services often. They would physically fight (sometimes at work, in front of customers) and just knock the shit out of each other. I thought this was the most miserably unhappy couple I had to deal with. Never would file charges against each other. One or both of them would profess how much they loved each other when we managed to pry them off each other. It finally came to a stop when our domestic violence law changed to allow me to file the charges and I could jail them both. I think they kept up combat but kept it out of the public. Some of us characterize this as a form of insanity and the situation between these two would bear that out.

It's an aggressively warped belief that these 'gender benders' think that they can be 'sexually fluid' and their physical biology doesn't represent who they are psychologically.

Living out here on the Left Coast, I believe the majority of these people are simply doing this to get a rise out of others. They first and foremost are attention-seekers, willing to throw themselves out there in a non-mainstream, counter-cultural, visually confrontational way hoping to get you to respond and then they can lash-out. Their lives are around trying to have arguments around labels and type-casting, trying to get you into verbal traps around assumptions; drama is their entertainment.

Then there are those who really are mentally ill: bi-polar and schizophrenia are common afflictions, type-D personality almost always. Cross-dressing and taking-on changed gender personalities not uncommon, drug usage and self-harm also a common trait. These people should be on medication, most of them are unable to maintain long-term relationships, lots of them need to be separated from society.
