In the Palouse country.
Morning of 6/2
4.95 regular
5.57 diesel
As of this afternoon (6/2)
5.05 regular
5.67 diesel

The steady rise in diesel is the one that concerns me. Where we live farming and logging are the backbone of the economy. Nationwide the impact of these prices may well devastate rural america. I’m sure that many of you can relate to the issues of rural living: 55 mile round trip to a local supermarket; 7 mile round trip to pick up mail; and so on. We are busy cutting wood on our place for the coming winter out of concern for what might be in the future.

I am thankful to be retired with a decent income but for young families in our area this will be crushing.

Worst of all our nation is currently being led by a misanthrope who must be filled with glee over the carnage he has wrought.

OKC Costco has risen to $3.98 for regular, it looks like it will be $4.00-plus in the next day or so. I know some of you, well probably most everybody, is paying more, much more than that.

That's a psychological barrier, going past the $4.00 per gallon and thinking gee I remember the good old days.

When we got shut down by the Coivid and the gooberment in early 2020, this Costco got down to 99 CENTS per gallon regular in April 2020, maybe May. I still have some receipts, I think, of this price.

Go do the math on that.

I have family in several parts of california and I am hearing the wailing and gnashing of teeth. Time to pull the eject handle and bail out of that state.

Five plus dollars a gallon out here.

I had to top off my tank yesterday evening. $4.99/gal for 87 Octane

I am actually now thankful my car is hybrid and get around 40 mpg, but this is still ridiculous.

OKC Costco has crossed the line and jumped to $4.07 for Regular and the Premium is $4.44

Across town, the Moore Costco is still showing $3.85 but I'm sure that will jump over $4.00 any time soon now.

Went by 2 stations side by side this afternoon. One had reg. at $4.38 still and one had it at $4.59. There were still people pumping gas at the one for $4.59 despite the 21 cents per gallon difference. The $4.38 was a major brand, Mobile, and the more expensive was a off brand.
