Yeah, I think DSgrouse could have worded that better. On the plus side, looks like your dog is parasite free. Big Grin

His mind has been institutionalized; quick to play the martyr and tattle-tail. Victim status and passive aggression. Primitive logic and playground code. He/she would have an aggravating element with that attitude assuming the reason for joining were sincere.

Even worse he is apparently employed in a position of authority to have an impact on people’s lives.

Yeah, position of authority, not to worry, there is no accountability save for SIGforum. Where all are held to accountability equally.

Thanks for watching para

I don’t think we know, but federal agencies don’t give wifi access to employees for their phones; it would burden the system and be abused. It’s just not done. If you use your phone at the office, you’re using “data.”

I'm not able to determine what device he used when he registered, but when he contacted me via email, he was using a Samsung phone on the Sprint network.

However, I can tell you without any doubt that when he attempted to register, he was on the network for the Department of Homeland Security.

His initial email to me, I received several hours after his registration attempt.

Thanks Para, 20 years plus here and this place is the best, having to screen like this is a sad state of affairs but albeit necessary. My optimists side wants me to think this was a boob of a Fed who thought he could impress everybody with his occupation or status, but unfortunately deep down I know it was .gov with no good intentions.

I agree wholeheartedly!

Para, as per your request you have always supported LE community of which I have been a part of. Thank you

I think this is another one of those people who see "Sig" in the title and don't investigate further and think it's just a forum dedicated to Sig pistols. If you've been here for more than five minutes, or even bothered to give it a cursory look-over, you'd know it's a lot more than that, and in every subforum.

I don't think it's ever been unclear to me that the owner, staff, and the membership support law enforcement here. I grew up with cops and feds, and I sit and talk with a SWAT friend every week. My father was Border Patrol. I've never seen anything here to make me think these people aren't implicitly supported. What is not supported is government overreach and gun grabbing in all its forms, and so I'm glad this sort of thing is filtered for at some level on the front end.

This guy doesn't seem all that bright, nor that courteous. That's a bad combo when it's wearing a badge.

Para,

It has been said many times in this thread, and I’m going to say it again… Thank you for the diligence in which you put into keeping the membership here as clean as possible.

At my old forum, there were four admin‘s and six mods, we still had characters with bad intentions slip through during registration.

Some of those made “friends“ and got themselves invited to the invite only secret areas of the forum. It was their “spying” for lack of a better word, on active duty military, was a major contributor to causing the forum owner to finally say enough and close it.

Doing what you do to keep this forum the way it is is essentially a full-time job.

Thank you again.

ETA: You would be shocked at the number of IP addresses we saw from China, North Korea, and the Middle East. Para I am assuming you can see the “bots” that are in the forum without registration? It’s crazy the data-mining that’s happening out there on the Internet.

I like Para's line about borders. How very true.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I've read the communication and would say 3 things.
1. I've learned that if I can't believe something someone is saying it may be wise to not believe anything they say.
2. I have never known this forum, the majority of members and the host to be anything but supportive of law enforcement.
3. I'm glad you are vigilant about these types of things and certainly understand why.

As an ExFed, I can say confidently that registering for a forum as a “private citizen” with a benign interest in SIG firearms, using a government computer and your government email address is strictly prohibited and constitutes “misuse of government property.” All of which leads me to conclude that the person who emailed you was operating in an official capacity, not as an individual on “personal time.”

It’s been made crystal clear that this forum supports law enforcement at any level.

This is exactly my sentiments..

This!!!

After the Army, I worked for several county and state govt agencies and I can verify personal use of internet and computer (and other comm equipment) is misuse! Many times we’ve had internal affairs go through all our systems making detailed files of ANY personal use and questioning everyone about every single non-governmental use. Usually they only did so when they wanted to look closer at one individual in the office and make it appear they were shaking everyone down and see what fruit fell from the tree.

This forum has been openly, clearly, and overwhelmingly PRO-LE. The joker in the e-mail exchange seems a little left of center judging by some of the comments. As has happened many times in the past during democrat administration, I am again reminded to be thankful that I did not accept the job offer I was given by the Border Patrol many years ago after I left the Army.
