Thank you all for the congratulations. I’m pretty excited. One cool thing about a brand new watch is the bracelet “squeak”. It’s kind of noisy, and I know it’ll silence when I wash it, but it’s kind of cool. Today will be my first day wearing it out. A little apprehensive as I’m wearing it to work and the kids I work with will probably recognize it. One of them will for sure. Most are good kids and understand that it takes a lifetime of work and saving and investments going “right” in order to purchase a watch like this. Then there is the one that won’t understand and is quite entitled and due to social media can’t understand why he’s not a millionaire. Anyways, enough with my rant about my first world problem. It’ll be a pretty awesome day wearing my new watch.

It looks neat, but wouldn't be my first choice. But, I've always liked the Speedy over the Seamaster. The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

Stick, nice watch! I like the Seamasters. There’s some great options for them. I’m in love with their titanium & rose gold one. The all white one with red accents for the Tokyo Olympics (the Rising Sun) is another gorgeous watch. I like the blacked out / stealthy one as well! It is a sharp piece! My only concern would be the same as H2oys: Can ya read the hands on it without having to twist and turn and contort your wrist? If they were silver with some lume, I’d say it would be perfect. If I can't see the hands instantly at a glance, not for me. Some white dial watches with some hands are equally hard to read. Good looking watches, but not for me. My Tudor BB GMT, because of the GMT hand, takes longer to read than I like depending on hand alignment. The more often I look at that Omega Seamaster subdued dial, the more I like it, or my eyes already know where the hands are. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. I’m not a fan of the blacked out watch. I would have too hard a time reading it. That said, it looks pretty damn cool.

Blacked out watches don't generally do much for me as I like to easily read the time. I did get a "Wasabi", customized Casio G-Shok from IFL a year or so ago as it did have a very readable dial. I call them the G-Spot... Well, I picked up a Speedmaster homage. VK63 quartz movement. It's actually better than I thought it would be. Put a beads of rice bracelet on it. Here it is compared to my '71 Speedy.     He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. | |||

That’s a VERY good looking watch SC! Definitely a good looking Speedy homage, especially with that bracelet. Swatch made a quartz watch that I kind of like! Link to article on new Swatch diver style watch They offer some interesting colorways but given my love of obnoxious red watches lately I’d probably get the red one but the clear/“egg yolk” colorway is tempting too…what a name.  I also kinda like the blue one. For $150 with all those unique colors ahh hell why not? Cockatoo, The Pagani Design is a really close look to the original speedy. I would definitely think it was the Omega if I was walking past you. Quite a nice looking watch. Stickman, I’m not sure about those colorways. They are quite bright!

I wouldn't wear one of those Swatches now, but 30 years ago I might have considered it. Stick- Nice Swatches! Hey, they’re only $150, no one said that you can only have ONE  That’s a watch you’re never going to loose, you can spot that from a block away. How is that Seamaster? Are the hands easily seen or do you loose them because of a lack of contrast? That model is SHARP! If my memory serves me correctly, SWATCH started making clear watches in the 80s. My son had one around 1986 . ETA: son confirmed, thinks it was called the Jellyfish.This message has been edited.
