This is the watch that made me come close to selling off my entire collection. I have always said that when smart watches get good enough with solar that they can function without being plugged in every night it will be a game changer.

Enter the Garmin Instinct 2X Solar. When I am on tropical vacations this watch is able to fully sustain itself on solar charging. When it gets minimal sun it still has a 40 day reserve with smart functionality.

I like the sleep tracking, chronograph function, solar intensity tracking, step counter, heart rate monitor and built in flashlight. The flashlight comes in DAMN handy more than you would think.

I still love auto watches but all the things this watch can do and how long it can go without a charge along with its super light weight for its large size makes it arguably my favorite watch. Eek

Not what you guys want to see or read but damn if this watch is not impressive for the price and capability.

My watch journey started with a bright red G-Shock rescue and I’ll be damned if I have not come full circle back to a similar watch with more capability. Big Grin

Are all those functions user friendly? For us older folks? Big Grin

50mm sounds huge. My CZ Hybrid is a 44mm
Does it wear as big as it sounds & do the smaller variants have the same features?

^^^ Looking on Amazon, the smaller ones have a very limited color choice. It looks like they do have similar functions, but then some aren't solar.

I wondered about the 50mm size too. Even a 45 looks huge on me.

The smaller versions have all the same functions but also have a smaller solar surface, smaller battery and different screens that have less information available.

It’s big but it is also light and wears as comfortable if not more comfortable than even my titanium Seiko with a rubber strap. You could not find a better beater watch than this one. Its biggest flaw is that it has made it hard to go back to some of my favorite watches.

My wife has the smallest Instinct 2 solar. The smaller battery and smaller solar surface area means it has about 1/3 the power reserve compared to my bigger version. I had the intermediate sized instinct before getting the big one it was ok but this watch is WAY better in terms of battery and solar recharging. The size comes with benefits and real advantages over the smaller versions.

For those who dislike negative displays the watch has the ability to change to the same screen but reversed so only the time/data is black and the rest of the lcd is blank.

Update on the blacked out Seamaster. Bad news: I am not going to get it. Good news: I found two Olympic special editions and a Planet Ocean that I like more and might get one of those instead.

stickman, look what you've done! Big Grin

It's the 40mm version, but I'm looking forward to putting it to use on my workouts starting tomorrow.

Thanks for the motivation!

BTW, this is mist gray, though it may look white.

The 40mm looks more my speed. I'd need to try the 50 on before buying, to be sure it's not wearing a wall clock on my wrist.

I had to Google “omega rising sun”. Nah it’s not one of those. I’ve had my eye on the 2004 & 2020 Olympic versions.

NICE!!!!
I like the 2024.

Sorry, for some reason I keep thinking that it’s the “Rising Sun”, where it’s just a limited edition 2020 Tokyo Olympic model.
Not a big fan of an all white watch, but DAMMMMMMNNNNMM!!!! That thing is nice!

I like Omegas very much, but never cared for the scalloped bezel and sword hands of the Seamaster. The Planet Ocean, however really presses my buttons.
