My freshly serviced Speedmaster was supposed to arrive via UPS yesterday afternoon along with a second unrelated package.

The driver left the second package and did not walk my Speedy to my neighbor to get the necessary signature.

The driver left to make other deliveries in our subdivision while I sat at my desk at the office.

I quickly wrapped up things at work, left, and tracked down the UPS truck.

He told me that he was off yesterday and was not the one to pack his truck and did note that my box was not in the appropriate slot on his truck. I told him the rough dimensions of what I expected it to be and he went back into the back of his truck, searched, came back and said it wasn’t on his truck. Now, of course I’m internally fuming thinking someone lost/stole my Speedmaster.

He said they have to empty the truck every evening so if he found it later, after all his other deliveries, he would bring it by. If not, he said it’s a possibility it could be on a different truck.

This morning it shows last being scanned yesterday morning and would be due for delivery this afternoon. I sincerely hope they didn’t either lose or steal my irreplaceable watch I’ve owned for 50+ years.

The watch is amazing in person. I went into the Tudor store in the Charlotte mall to see if they had one. It had just came in and he brought it out and unwrapped it. I was surprised that it was not much larger than my Pelagos FXD and extremely light even with the bracelet. I was expecting a hockey puck given it is a 1000m rated watch. It was 1 mm larger diameter and only a few mm thicker. This will likely be my next watch purchase.

“Delivery Date Will be Provided as soon as Possible “. It still hasn’t been scanned since Thursday morning.

This is getting scary. I won’t know anything until Monday.

Easter is a pretty big holiday for my wife. I would go as far as to say it’s as important, if not more so than Christmas to her. This is our 20th Easter together. She gave me a pretty amazing gift.

It’s a Rolex DateJust II. Stainless with a white gold fluted bezel with a rhodium diamond dial. I think it’s just the right amount of “bling” as I don’t care for super blingey watches, but I really like this. I never thought I would like a watch with diamonds, but I really like this. I think it looks really classy.

It’s in absolute mint condition. Pre-owned, but it appears unworn.

I have wanted a GMT Master II for years, but I think I actually prefer this. Guess I’m getting old.

The first two photos are in the house, the latter two photos are in the direct sun of the window.

Beancooker congratulations that is an absolutely stunning watch. Your wife has good taste picking such a nice watch for you.
I love the way the dial, the hands, the bezel and the case all blend so nicely.

I own a Tudor Black Bay 925 Silver and it also blends the same way just not as nice as your Rolex does.
Again congratulations.

I’m sick to my stomach. It looks like it disappeared. I called UPS yesterday AM and she told me that since there was not any movement/tracking updates over 24 hours, to start an investigation.

She emailed a link to me and whatever an investigation means, it has begun. When I woke at 4 this morning I started stewing on this all over again. Should I file a police report?

The owner of Sangamon watches, the business that serviced my watch, called me yesterday. He too is upset. He added he always ships in plain boxes without marking other than a “fragile“ sticker. He’s never lost a watch using UPS. I hope I’m not the first.

Losing an Omega would suck in general.
The sentimental value of yours makes it even worse.

Similar reasons had me really nervous to ship my wife's wedding ring out to Dave for repair.

h2oys, I’m sorry to hear your watch has gone missing. That really sucks.
At my past job, we shipped thousands of packages weekly with UPS. When they start an investigation, they are pretty thorough. They’ll go back to the center where it was last scanned, and start there. They’ll look in the label missing, and damage areas. They’ll talk to the manager and supervisors. I have always had good luck with them finding things when the investigation starts.
I hope it turns up.

Thank you Beancooker.

You've sharing way more details than what I have been told by UPS. I am glad to hear they actually take this seriously.

Keeping my fingers crossed H2OTOYS!

We have an Amazon shipping warehouse in my District. I’ve been called there a few times to help out or lock someone up.
A lot of the problem (outside of the actual asshole thief) is the shipping label.

To: CPD SIG
From: Mimi’s Jewelry.

You see something normal; a low-life, ass rimming thief sees $! Because it’s going to or coming from a jewelry store. They see the opportunity.

Not our fault, or the Company’s fault, it’s the asshole thief’s fault.

It’s a $40 Timex that doesn’t look good to the thief, it gets tossed.
It’s a $4000 Rolex, it’s on their wrist…
It’s a $40,000 watch that is unknown to the thief (say a Glashutte), and doesn’t look “fancy”- if gets tossed…
