Pre WWII Longines Czech Airforce pilot's watch. I removed the caseback, movement [actually a pocketwatch movement!] is attached to it. I'll get my watch guy to take pictures of the movement & inside of the back, so I can get an Extract from the Archives from Longines [It's free, unlike many other companies].
A monster [for the time] at 41mm. My dad bought it in Prague years ago for approx $300 [Rarely wore it]. A keeper for sure.

A few months ago, I learned about "Red Bar" and "WEAZ" (Watch Enthusiasts of Arizona) events through Facebook. I attended my first meetings week before last and (like you) really enjoyed them. They're an absolute joy to participate in and are very similar to the SigForum meet ups I've attended in the past, graciously hosted by David Truong. If you're an FB member, do a search and you might be surprised by the number of groups nearby.

I replaced the OEM strap on my Oris Big Crown ProPilot TLP with a custom kudu hide strap from The Strap Tailor. Well worth the added cost and wait time coming from the UK.

Very nice, Oris seems a brand you don't see a lot of, but they've got quite a few models I wouldn't mind having.
As a Williams F1 sponsor was my first exposure to them.

I've been debating on buying entry-level watches for a modest collection, or go for one decent watch. At that time Ball had my attention. I walked into Right Time in Denver to look at Ball in person. If I had the money and intent to buy I would have walked out with an Oris on that day.

My local AD carries Oris. They are QUITE impressive. Did you see the titanium skeleton watch with the gorgeous display case back? There is also a rather unique green one with Kermit the frog in the day window. Big Grin. That one is wild.

Ball is awesome too. Wink

My advice is to avoid a vast collection of entry-level watches. It's fun. It can be addicting. But it can cost you a lot in the end. If you find yourself miles into the lower end stuff, what you'll really be doing is losing perhaps half (or all) the value of each watch. Multiply that by dozens, and it adds up.

But if your budget supports only a small/handful of entry'ish level, then that's not a mistake to get a few and enjoy them. A few is fun, and there's great stuff at every price level nowadays. But again, if you're going to end up wrapping up a pile of loot over a relatively short amount of time, choosing better stuff is the wise choice.

The watches I've lost the most money on, were not the expensive watches I've owned. And the converse is usually true.

Thanks. I've considered many since discovering this thread. Honestly, I don't know what I'll end up with until I spend the money.

Another thought to consider, is if you're not sure and you want to play a bit, go with pre-owned. Because you can usually flip them back out at about even, vs. losing money instantly on new. And unlike cars, used watches drop to where they're going fast, and plateau for years (or forever).

Black Bay Pro is my favorite everyday watch. I can’t live without a GMT now when I travel.

Great selection! I think the Tudor GMTs (including the BB Pro), offer an incredible bang for the buck. The Black Bay Pro is IMHO an even better looking watch than the original Rolex 1655 Explorer II "Freccione" it's seems to be an homage to.

The rotor messed up on my SH21 powered C60 Abyss. After 10 weeks of waiting it is finally back and working great. The repairs didn’t cost me anything. Christopher Ward’s warranty and C/S is pretty darn good.

I took this pic a few days ago on a farm in NC.

I just received this black alligator-hide strap from the Strapsmith for my Sinn 857UTC. Pretty nice match up for a heavy duty GMT watch.

Talk about knocking it out of the f&$king park.

This thing rocks.

The date wheel has even days red and odd days black.

I think it was Marzy who commented on how excellent Tudor’s in house movement is….you were 100% correct.

I didn’t know until I got one that every single Tudor Pelagos LHD is individually numbered. This is a 2020 model. (A hell of a good year eh?)

It’s the little things like the alternating red vs black date wheel that makes this watch so neat.
