The appeal for me at this point is that it's big. It can be very difficult to get stable in kneeling, sitting positions or on barricades. This should help if the stage allows. Here is a link to their page that has a video of Chase "Pump" Stroud demoing it.

Well...I m going to come across sounding like a complete jackass but here we go anyhow...

Whats the difference between this and the $5 inflatable camp pillow my son used the other day shooting off the back deck? Honest to God, Ive never heard of the "Weiband Pump" until about 1 minute ago when I clicked on the link. We did have an issue shooting the other day in the extreme cold and not wanting to go prone on a snow covered deck. Went inside the cabin, dug around in the basement found the pillow. Worked great in the same kneeling fashion shown in the video. Its even black, which we all know is the official ninja/tactical/Tier 1 color.

OK..back into my corner...

Wow, this thread has gone to the dogs. We are now discussing how to shoot your way out of a bag? Really?

Well, not everyone is god's gift to rifle shooting like you. I have mastered shooting my way out of a bag, but I'm still working on shooting my way out of a wet bag. Wink

How did the bag get wet? You need to look at Depends or some such.

Sad that it happens to one so young.

Did someone mention kush pillows?

This one offers superior elbow support for those low, tight barricade windows.

<< note to self >>

Reconsider current barricade design.

To answer your question, the Weibad "Pump" isn't really an inflatable pillow, it's just the name of the product. I think it's fill is shredded styrofoam? The reason it costs so much is because of the quality materials and made in USA labor costs. I have the Weibad "Tactical" which is not as thick as the Pump, and really like it. I almost prefer the features of the 3Gun Tactical Smoozie like Off Grid has, but you can't get them anymore.

The bag got wet because I accidentally spilled my jar of liberal tears that I bought on eBay. I use them to lube my weapons.

Yeah, just thinking about it, a CRF single shot would be pretty silly.

Yesterday's match was, in a word, brutal. I haven't seen wind and cold like that at the range in several years. We had a number of people showing up with their 24 inch rifles shooting FGMM or their handloads. Some of them had trouble getting on paper. The wind was from the north, right in our faces and would go from front left to front right in an instant. The wind was from 7 MPH to over 20MPH and these frequent gusts would last for a few minutes, some guys did not finish in time on the first match and hurried up after that. Scores were dismal.

In the pits, I noticed that the folks shooting their 24 inch barrels were coming in subsonic or just barely transonic. I could not believe how low they were hitting in the berm behind the targets; they were actually in the grass instead of the mud (we've had LOTS of rain recently) in the typical impact area. I did see that the impact area for my bullets was in the regular place. Pulling targets was tedious for these guys, you had to look all over the target for their bullet holes and sometimes, they missed the target entirely. It was brutal.

I actually shot a couple of 7s yesterday, as the wind was switching like crazy or just dropping off. I would be in the 10s and Xs and suddenly see the flags turn after I pulled the trigger and collect an 8 out the right or a 7 out the left. Brutal, I tell you. There was some vertical issues because of the frontal wind and the terrain features, but overall it was a mostly always left or right. I would either be aiming for the edge of the black on the right or the edge of the black on the left or dead center. Strange day it was and very frustrating. It was a lot of fun.

Yikes -- can we say wind? Were you shooting in Texas or did the Star Trek crew transport everyone to the Wyoming plains for that match?

10/X one shot, then 7/8 the next -- ouch.

Brutal I tell you. Plus on top of that I had to wear a jacket of some kind, it was that cold.

I kept reminding the shooters that we would look fondly on this day in the July and August matches. And the June and September matches. And probably the May match. The best times are March, April and October, November. December can be nice also. It certainly was this past year.

The bright side was that my rifle cooled rapidly. :-)

I didn't even put on my mirage shield. Well, I did for the first match but the wind blew it off. Then the wind got worse for the subsequent matches so I just put it away. There was no heat waves coming from the barrel anyway.

I was able to discern some mirage at 1000 yards during the last match, thanks to the new scope.
