Not only is Ruger now making Glocks... They're also now making COA-equipped Glocks!

Since Aimpoint's COA exclusivity agreement with Glock expired at the start of this year, other companies are now free to offer A-cut slides for COA mounting.

And right on cue, Ruger recently announced a factory COA-equipped RXM.

Available in G19-style 15 round grip or G45-style 17 round grip configuration, in Black, Gray, or OD Green.

MSRP is $1099, but street price looks like it's just under $800 before shipping at some online sellers. For a $400+ gun and a $550+ optic, that's a pretty decent package deal.

(Provided you're sure you want the COA, since you'd be locked into the proprietary optic cut, so switching to something else would necessitate getting a different slide. Though Gen 3 G19 slides aren't exactly rare or expensive...)

I don't have a G26 to compare it to, but I did get a chance to put 2 boxes of 124 range ammo through it earlier this week. I used a standard 10 round Gen 5 G26 mag, a Gen 5 G26 mag with a Pearce +1 extension and 2 Magpul G26 12 round mags (which is the only one they make I guess).

There were no issues with the gun or the mags. I thought the Magpul mags were a little loose in the magazine well, not so much when they were full, but when they emptied out they got a little wobbly. I tried moving them around while shooting to see if I could get it to FTF, but it never caused a malfunction. The Glock mags fit perfectly and worked as they should. I ended up adding a small strip of Talon grip tape to the front of the Magpul mag pinky extension as they are WAY too smooth.

I'm super happy with it. Shooting it with the flush fit G26 mag is fine, obviously not as comfortable as having the Pearce extension on the other mag, but I'm just as accurate with the flush mag, albeit a tad slower probably due to some extra muzzle flip. I plan on getting a couple X Grip sleeves to put on my G19 mags to further the flexibility options of the new grip frames.

If I was 21 years old, and just getting into firearms/ccw I would likely get one of these and say a Vortex Defender CCW. I'd have a decent gun and optic set up for a little over 100 than what a single Gen6 Glock 19 would cost me.

Yeah, a Ruger RXM (~$400) with an Osight SE (~$150) seems to be the current combo to beat for a quality budget midsize handgun with optic.

At $550 it's a bit under the cost of a G19 alone.

I don't have a ton to add, except I did buy an RXM with an OD green grip. I actually carry it quite frequently and it shoots really well, much more accurate than I expected..it’s actually *very accurate. It definitely fits my hand better than any Glock I’ve owned. No issues to report

I sold my RXM to buy a Gen 6 G19 COA..

Although the RXM wasn't a bad firearm, I just wanted the Gen 6 G19 more.

The full size RXM fits me about perfect for a polymer gun. Ruger saw the writing on the wall and made a great and wanted product.

I picked up my new RXM today, and lemme tell you... I feel like I hit the factory trigger lottery jackpot with this one!

It has hands down the best out of the box trigger of any Glock or RXM I've ever handled. It's better than my Glock GPTs. It's better than most of my modified Glock triggers with aftermarket components.

Just superb.

I've read the occasional not so glowing statements on the RXM trigger various places online over the past few years, so either I just got really lucky, or Ruger has stepped up their game with the factory RXM triggers lately.

I'll get some more in-depth thoughts and photos of the RXM posted next week, once I've had a chance to mount an optic and hit the range.

Glock triggers are like snowflakes- no two are exactly alike.

Although I sold my RXM, it did have a very nice trigger.

I bought an RXM maybe a month or a little longer ago after being a little ho-hum on the Gen 6 17 that I bought. I wanted to take a look at the RXM and see how it compared. I also am hoping that we will see a quality steel frame option for them eventually. I love a heavy gun and I think the steel frame striker fired market needs a Glock clone. My understanding is that PSA has a gun on the way that is RXM-compatable, which should help with aftermarket development.

I ended up with the full-size, 4.5" model, which ends up being essentially the same configuration as a Gen 6 17 (full size grip, 4.5" barrel, compact single stage recoil spring). I like the Ruger better than the Glock (although I prefer the Gen 5 Glock 17 to the RXM by a hair).

The good:

The grip texture, angle, and overall design is really good. I've always liked the Magpul MOE SL AR-15 grip and this is essentially that texture. Despite the small "Gen 3" mag release, the relieved frame makes it easy to activate. I think that not using the Gen 4/5/6 mag release pattern is a miss.

The optic mounting system appears more robust than the Glock Gen 6 system. My Gen 6 plate came loose within the first 1,000 rounds. My RXM optic system has not come loose. The RXM optic system is also a really low mount and the included sights (which are made of metal) are tall enough to use with the 507comp I mounted. I truly do not care about irons, but it's nice that these are usable.

A couple critiques:

The trigger on mine is not that good. It has a long, rolling break. I'm sure there are some that are better. The actual trigger shoe design is nice and I prefer it to all generations of Glock trigger. I have some assorted factory and aftermarket connectors that I will eventually try in the gun to see if I can more of a defined wall. I really don't want to spend Johnny Glock or Tactical Trigger money. The trigger is serviceable, though. I had no problems shooting 90+ off-hand B8s at 25 yards and was not behind my normal Glock performance on more dynamic drills.

The light rail has a "universal" cut like a Gen 3 and 4 Glock instead of 1913 like a Gen 5/6 Glock and almost every other gun currently in production. This is a miss, in my opinion. The 1913 cut is a true standard and has definitely won the war of adoption. This means that weapon lights need a different indexing key installed to use on the RXM than most other guns.

I have had no issues with holster compatibility or anything like that although I have not tested it extensively.

100% agreed. It's one of my only quibbles with the RXM so far, along with their retention of Glock's proprietary narrower rail slot width from the Gen 3/4 Glock, as you also mentioned.

The beveled and textured surface and recessed surround for the RXM's mag release makes it better than the usual Glock Gen 3 mag release, but not as good as the Gen 4+.

Maybe Magpul will come around at some point.

Some of the aftermarket grip modules do use the Gen 4+ mag release. (And have 1913 rails.)

And https://andordynamics.com/ is apparently about to release a conversion kit with a drill/dremel jig, like he has for the Gen 3 Glocks, since the only difference between the Gen 3 and Gen 4+ mag release is the size of the holes in the side of the grip module. I'd be fine taking a drill to a $30 grip module, as opposed to a $400 frame.

I like that they are taller than standard sight height, but not true tall suppressor height sights. Gives a lower 1/5th to 1/6th cowitness with most optics, which is my preference.

I don't want irons cluttering up my optic window any more than absolutely necessary, nor do I want giant shark fins sticking up on my slide.

My RXM works in all my Glock holsters, though the fit is a little bit looser in some, due to the narrower beveled edges of the RXM slide compared to the boxy Glock slide.
