The 40SW slide a little taller and may not fit a regular 239 holster. The gun is heavy enough to handle the 40SW cartridge and the gun is quite shootable. Much softer shooting than a Glock 23.

Very good choice. Had mine since the Eighties, lots of rounds through it. Shoots as well as my P229 and P226. Utterly reliable.
Before I bought mine, I tried a P239 .40 a friend owned. Zero issues with the .40 recoil. Good gun good cartridge. What more can I say?
Btw, you can also use a stock 9mm barrel with it for practice/ammo savings. A number of us here have done so. Conversion barrel not needed and works with 9mm or .40 mags.

^^^ Correct...my bad. Thanks. Got my P229 in 1996 and the P239 a few years later, then my P226.

Go for it, i have a 226,2229,and a 239 all in .40, the 239 has been my EDC for a while, under gunned? I dont feel like i am with 9 rounds from 140grn to 200 grn in a pistol that shoots more accurate than i'm capable of
Just adding to the chorus - P239 and .40 is a good combo. Such was both my first SIG and first .40 many years back. I imagine that a .357 SIG barrel and / or 9mm conversion barrel would only add to the fun. This message has been edited. Last edited by: TheFrontRange,

I didn't care for mine until I replaced the grips. Since then I picked up a .357sig barrel and a conversion 9mm and both of those work fine w/ the .40 mags at the range.
Another thing I recommend is heavy grease for the rails before each range trip.
