I have a P239 .357 sig and swap back and fourth with the .40 barrel I think it handles it great!

Nontypical
I have more than one, and I wouldn’t hesitate to get another.

I had mine out recently for the first time in quite a long time and enjoyed it immensely.

Mine shoots amazingly soft for a.40.

The 40SW slide a little taller and may not fit a regular 239 holster. The gun is heavy enough to handle the 40SW cartridge and the gun is quite shootable. Much softer shooting than a Glock 23.

I have 2 in .40 and one in 9mm. I prefer shooting the .40 over the 9mm.

Great gun, like it so much that I have two in 40 S&W.
They get carried on a regular basis.
Soft shooter, controllable.

My dad has had/carried one since 1996.
Never had any trouble with it.

I keep telling him to pick up a 357Sig bbl for it.

Very good choice. Had mine since the Eighties, lots of rounds through it. Shoots as well as my P229 and P226. Utterly reliable.

Before I bought mine, I tried a P239 .40 a friend owned. Zero issues with the .40 recoil. Good gun good cartridge. What more can I say?

Btw, you can also use a stock 9mm barrel with it for practice/ammo savings. A number of us here have done so. Conversion barrel not needed and works with 9mm or .40 mags.

Guessing typo? The P239 came out in 1996...

^^^ Correct...my bad. Thanks. Got my P229 in 1996 and the P239 a few years later, then my P226.

Go for it, i have a 226,2229,and a 239 all in .40, the 239 has been my EDC for a while, under gunned? I dont feel like i am with 9 rounds from 140grn to 200 grn in a pistol that shoots more accurate than i'm capable of

Mine will never be sold. Very comfortable to shoot with Hogue finger groove grips. You won't regret adding it to your gun collection.

Just adding to the chorus - P239 and .40 is a good combo. Such was both my first SIG and first .40 many years back. I imagine that a .357 SIG barrel and / or 9mm conversion barrel would only add to the fun.

I didn't care for mine until I replaced the grips. Since then I picked up a .357sig barrel and a conversion 9mm and both of those work fine w/ the .40 mags at the range.

Another thing I recommend is heavy grease for the rails before each range trip.

I prefer mine in .40 and with the .357 barrel over the 9mm I had…
