Absolute one of the best semi-auto pistols ever made as long as one has not drunk the kool-aid made of plastic and need for double stack 17/20 round magazine capacity. One of the best things about a P239 in either 40 or 357 sig caliber is they can be easily swapped and on top of that even converted down to 9mm. A P239 built just for 9mm can't be swapped up to those though. The magazine well is slightly too thin on the 9mm for the slightly larger size magazine in 40/357. The only plastic on a p239 are the grips and mag baseplate. Enjoy. ![]()

Exactly, i wish my two tone had a stainless lower, BIL tried to sell me on the 365, i told him i didnt need a polymer pistol with a drum hanging out the bottom of it, i wanted an all metal pistol with a hammer

Lots of love for the P239 .40. Forgot to mention my grip change. Stock grips & front strap don't secure well. Several other good options. Mine is the Hogue G10's. Back strap has some grip to it. Combine that with skateboard tape on the front strap and the gun locks in nicely under recoil. ______________________ An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing. --Nicholas Murray Butler

It's not my favorite Sig but it is a sexy little pistol especially with Nill's on it. I prefer the 357sig barrel mostly but will occasionally shoot the 40 cal.

I've been carrying one for the better part of 26 years. It works for me.

I came across a P239 in .357SIG today for $465 at a LGS. Looked like it was carried a lot, but shot very little. I had one in .40 and kind of miss it. But I would think .357SIG is kind of snappy in this platform. I have to go back to this store tomorrow for some NFA paperwork (I had a conjugal visit with my machine gun there today). I was thinking of grabbing it, thought i so don't need it and my P365s are my EDC guns these days. Can I swap in .40 and 9mm barrels with this gun and with no other mods? How can I make the mags take more rounds? Freewill Firearms 07 FFL

.357SIG isn’t really any snappier then .40 in the P239 in my experience. The difference comes from the blast/noise/concussive force. You will “feel” shooting the .357SIG in the P239 but not really as a recoil thing. You can drop a .40 barrel in. I’ve never done a 9mm change but folks say you can drop a factory 9mm barrel in. (But I have no practical experience here so do your research) If I remember correctly, .357 SIG can be run in the .40 mags but .40 cannot in the .357 marked mags. Something to that effect. I’ll leave the capacity questions to others. I think there were extended baseplates once upon a time. Take care, shoot safe. Chris Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

Cslinger above is right... and yes, with a 357/40 one all you have to do is drop in a 9mm barrel and you can shoot the lesser costly ammo in it... keep the 357/40 recoil spring and magazine the same even though I prefer to use 9mm mags when doing this. Actually did it on Tuesday with my latest P239. standard factory 357/40 mags are 7 round capacity but I have some that are 8 which is the same as the standard 9mm ones. Don't know why sig did it but the magazines specifically marked 357sig have a side groove to line up the necked down rounds better I guess and so standard 40 cal will not go in... but 40 cal mag work fine with the 357 ammo. When I go back today, I will ask about accessories. If it comes with several mags, I may have to pounce. I can sen the slide out to CCR for a refinish and the gun would look new. The last one I had was totally redone in NP3. Kicking myself for selling, but I was getting out of .40 and kind of needed the money at the time. Freewill Firearms 07 FFL

I love my P239 in .357SIG. At that price, I would bring it home.

At the price they are asking you can't go wrong. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

Comes with old style gray SIG case and manual, two seven round mags. I still didn't pounce on it. Then I got an email that Wright Armory is starting their NT7 coating, which is the new version of NP3, which would be so perfect for this gun. But then I'm dumping more money in a gun I'll probably never carry. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Rick Lee, Freewill Firearms 07 FFL

Right. But I just bought a machine gun, which is why I was in that store to begin with. Now I need to start buying 9mm by the pallet. Freewill Firearms 07 FFL

BTW, this store also has a super clean MK25 with piranha grips for $750. I don't need another P226 (I have a W. German factory nickel and one in NP3), but damn, that's a lot of gun for the money. Freewill Firearms 07 FFL

Seems well equipped to handle the 40SW. I like to think of it as good alternative to the Colt Commander.

Does anyone remember who was selling those mag floor plates (I have one in that photo) that allowed one more round? I got a few of them, maybe from Top Gun Supply, about 10 yrs. ago. Anyone still making them? Freewill Firearms 07 FFL
