They’ll be signing the MOU friday which extends the ceasefire by 60 days and provides that long to finalize any real deal. Strait traffic is to be open again, including for the Iranians although their statement that they and Qatar will “manage” said traffic would seem to run counter to DJT’s promise of unfettered transits. Supposed to start discussing nuclear after friday, but Iran’s new requirement to be paid $12B before doing so runs counter to Trump’s statement of no money changing hands. Israel still seems to be attacking Hezbollah, so that proxy war isn’t settled yet. Lots of deal-like proclamations today, but this looks like it still has a long way to go before real peace is achieved.

Iran Offers 60-Day Toll-Free Hormuz Transit As 100s Of Ships Await Reopening

The U.S. and Iran reached an interim agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday evening, just 30 minutes before New York futures opened, with officials from both countries set to meet in Switzerland on Friday to formally sign the peace deal.

According to Iranian outlet Fars, the U.S.-Iran deal reportedly includes a 60-day toll-free window for vessels. After that period, if a more permanent deal is agreed upon, Tehran may seek to monetize the Hormuz chokepoint by charging commercial vessels for "services" tied to safety, navigation, environmental protection, and insurance.

Traffic on the Strait remains light on Monday morning, with hundreds of tankers waiting for the Hormuz waterway to officially reopen by the end of the week. But LNG tanker Disha did not wait for the formal opening and made a dash to exit the strait early Monday.

There are nearly 300 loaded vessels idling in the Persian Gulf, while a similar number of empty ships are waiting in the Gulf of Oman to return to export terminals. Another 250 ballast vessels inside the Gulf are ready to pick up cargoes if outbound flows resume.

I believe this Memorandum is a stepping stone which may provide some distance from 24/7 coverage, which then may allow the Iranian government to quietly officially agree to the terms we demand. No nukes, free transit of the Strait of Hormuz, and cessation of all terrorism.

But I do agree that they likely see weakness, and they will always seek our destruction. Best case is regime change to a civilized government. Worst case is they are playing one more round of lying and delaying, which means we'll have to resume military strikes.

Well I'm not going to piss and moan, or tell you you're stupid. I think your lane seems to be in AI (extremely good insight BTW) but changing your lane to foreign policy will probably cause a car crash. A bad car crash.

Perhaps people could wait until the actual terms of the 'yet to be signed' peace deal/agreement were public (and verified!) before going off half-cocked based on information (misinformation?) in 'the media', which is often based on leaks from 'unnamed sources', so potentially made up/fake news intended to push a narritive! We don't even know what we don't know at this point!

Iran "agreeing to never having a nuclear weapon" may be true in that they've apparently promised this, but no one who knows the behavior of the Iranian regime in the last 50 years believes that there is even the slightest chance that these psychopaths will ever stop desiring and seeking nuclear weapons. They will continue to develop long-range delivery systems and they will plan for the day when they can marry their ICBMs to nuclear warheads.

It seems Iran agreed to a deal after Trump shared Sunday night's (June 14) target list with them. A diplomatic solution, while desireable, is not essential. The "end game" if diplomacy fails is enough additional destruction that we don't need them to agree on anything.
