Which is exactly what I've been harping on for a number of years. Everyone needs to stop bending, compromising, and apologizing to this filth. When they bellyache about being offended, don't wilt. Simply buck/bow up, look them squarely in the eye, and tell them..."I dont care one bit. Now shut up and go away."

When a majority of the population opts for this course of action, the end will be right around the corner for the professional complainers.

I guess my underlying concern re Trump is that he is driven much more by ego than by patriotism. If he did win the White House, I doubt that priority would change.

The Reagan/Carter contest was my first Presidential election, and I remember at that time, Reagan was an underdog, a conservative outsider to George Bush's more moderate credentials. Like Carter, Reagan was depicted as someone outside of the Washington DC establishment, while Bush and Dole were seen as insiders who could get things done. Up until New Hampshire, Bush was considered the man to beat. But it was Reagan's angry statement to the New Hampshire debate folks "I'm paying for this microphone!" which turned things around. Citizens responded to his firmness and the rest of the campaign favored Reagan.

Reagan, the Outsider picked Bush, the Establishment Republican, as his VP, and the rest is history.

About a month and a half ago Trump had a meeting with Cruz at Trump tower. Nothing has been said what went on at that meeting, but I did notice that Cruz has never said anything negative about Trump, and even said he like him the other day. Cruz is a very smart man, and knows how to campaign, I'm betting he might be in the running for VP if Trump is nominated.

As Para has pointed out, anyone who runs for POTUS must have a huge ego. "Let's see, the most powerful position in the most powerful nation on earth. In other words, the most powerful leader on earth. Hmm. Ya, that sounds like me."

I do believe that Trump loves America. He has taken-- already-- some enormous financial hits for running for president. What is it if not love of country that makes him so outspoken on controversial issues, like illegal immigration? He is rich enough to live in the elite bubble that is not touched at all by all the destruction of the invasion. Nobody is going to section 8 move next door to him. His kids, grandkids, great grandkids, will not go to schools degraded with overcrowded illegals.

He's not fighting for Donald Trump. The Donald is very well set, come what may. He's fighting for America, and what America has always meant as the land of opportunity.

I could live with Trump and Cruz running the show. A nice, decent man is not gonna win this race, and there are several running now. Trump approaches issues like a D5 dozer. I'm not sure what to equate the Bozo in chief to that's in there now, other than a criminal incompetent.

My wife and I plan to drive to Iowa on Tuesday to attend the Trump rally.
Have to see what this is all about.

I couldn't agree more. Great potential.
Of course, Donald Trump is showing great potential and drawing a crowd which could turn into gathering votes.... we'll see.

I'm glad Trump and Cruz are playing nice with one another.

I agree! I think Walker would be in third place for me.

I see it as Trump, Walker, and Cruz. Walker has solid history of action of going against the unions in WI, not backing down in a blue state, and winning.

Did anyone happen to catch in yesterday's speech that Trump said he would appoint Carl Icahn as Ambassador to China and Japan? Actually, he might have said chief negotiator rather than Ambassador.

The Washington cartel was sure-- they were certain-- that they had it all nailed down: Hillary Clinton versus Jeb Bush. A "can't lose" for them. (A "can't win" for us.)

Then here comes Trump. And the wheels fly off of their sure thing. Princess Megyn suddenly needs a long vacation. Karl is trying to extract the white board from up his butt, where Jeb shoved it. Colonel Mustard in the library with the candlestick? The RINOs haven't a clue.

And they'll be digging up God only knows what, whether it's factual or make-believe, to try and start that groundswell.

I personally think he harbors no such illusions. First off, he is not stupid, and second, he has spent his entire life getting things done where others have found them to be impossible. Imagine trying to do a major real estate development in New York City or New Jersey.

The city governments and each department is against you - each department head running his or her own little kingdom controlling permits, surveys, inspectors, etc and none of them wanting you to develop anything. Then you have EPA, OSHA, unions, public utilities and who knows what else to deal with.

No one just walks in and orders those people what to do - each one requires different levels of cajolery and/or behind the scenes manipulation to get what you want done.

Trump has proven a master at this - getting developments done where everyone thought they would be impossible.

Do you think he would do what Obama did and insulate himself in the TrumpHouse and never meet with the leaders of Congress? I don't - I think he would have them there all the time and would quickly learn what he needed to do to get each one to either go along or step aside - whether it was political favors or threats to expose them to a media firestorm or funding their opponents in upcoming elections. I think he would figure it out and do whatever he had to do to get his way.

Maybe I'm wrong about that and he would insulate himself like Obama did and just cry when things didn't go his way - but I would submit that his record does not indicate that he would react that way.
