I don't put any more faith in this poll than I do in the ones showing Hillary leading by double digits. I think the only polls that will get this race right will do so by pure chance. Whoever wins, this election will defy traditional political models and conventional wisdom.

Fox put out a poll 1-2 days ago. With D. Trump down 6% to Hillary.

http://www.foxnews.com/politic...describes-trump.html

That's a huge difference between the two different polls Eek

That's called a "clue".

Ignore political polls.

This Fall, liberal tears will stream down like a heavy rainstorm.

Polls by now have no meaning. Just as news stories can be skewed and slanted, polls are also. Anyone who thinks polls are objective and truthful needs to get a brain check.

From your mouth to God's ears. But, we must support him when he does what he said he would do.

This is a long video but it shows how little he has really changed over the last 30 years.

Apologize, colomtn. Just saw your post of this video. Consider this a thread bump. Mark Geist deserves to be heard.

Newt or Christie? At least Sessions would help him with the other two parts of the GOP.

quote:
Donald Trump’s campaign has begun formally vetting possible running mates, with former House speaker Newt Gingrich emerging as the leading candidate, followed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. But there are more than a half dozen others being discussed as possibilities, according to several people with knowledge of the process.

Given Trump’s unpredictability, campaign associates caution that the presumptive Republican nominee could still shake up his shortlist. But with little more than two weeks before the start of the Republican National Convention, Gingrich and Christie have been asked to submit documents and are being cast as favorites for the post inside the campaign. Gingrich in particular is the beneficiary of a drumbeat of support from Trump confidants such as Ben Carson.

A number of senators — including Jeff Sessions (Ala.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.) — are also being reviewed as viable picks, although the extent to which they are being vetted is unclear. A longer shot on Trump’s radar is Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, a heavyweight on the right who could bolster Trump’s tepid support among some conservative activists.

But Pence is immersed in his reelection race and Trump is said to want a more electric politician at his side rather than a low-profile figure. Most of his primary rivals are reluctant to sign on, and tensions with Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) remain raw.

Details of the running-mate search were provided by five people with knowledge of the process who requested anonymity to discuss private conversations with campaign officials.Given Trump’s unpredictability, campaign associates caution that the presumptive Republican nominee could still shake up his shortlist. Trump will need a policy wonk and Gingrich fits that bill.

Trump has previously stated that he specifically wants a seasoned expert who can navigate D.C. and get things done. I think that alone rules out Christie, thankfully, and as stated - Newt would be an excellent fit in that capacity. Maybe Sessions, too.

Can't see any way Christie brings anything to the ticket. Another NE pol? No (thankfully). And bringing Christie would signal that this is NOT a pro-2A administration. He needs someone who can add a Southern or Mid-West appeal. Christie does none of that. I can't see it being Newt though. The left gets as apoplectic over Newt as they do over Palin. I remember all those "Nuck Fewt" bumper stickers from years back. Newt is a pretty intelligent guy, but the GDC's (including the media) would go into overdrive pushing his nasty divorce story. But Trump will need someone who can help him in OH, VA, and FL. If he doesn't carry those states, it will be the third Klin-ton administration.

My bet is that Christie would end up being Trump's Chief of Staff. It makes the most sense.

Newt would be a mistake in my opinion. He is a retread from the past and will not energize any people on the fence to vote for Trump. I don't see him helping Trump win any of the battleground states.

I wish Kasich would sign on and deliver Ohio. Pretty confidant that's not going to happen.

I really appreciate what Trump said there about the NRA. Very nice to hear a candidate come out that strong for them.

The VP choice is not about any special skills. It's about the voter base. I don't see what Christie or Gingrich will add to the ticket. I do see both of them alienating a lot of voters.
