Yes they are, the will of the people is being heard loud and clear. Now that it is not 17 candidates Cruz is winning some states with as much as 66% of the vote. Correction, his highest victory was with 69% of the vote. The will of the people is saying we don't want Trump. The only reason for Kasich to stay in is to help Trump because he will not be the nominee. Now Wisconsin should have been Trump territory, but we are moving into the Northeast so he should start doing very well again there, but if the will of the people was Trump, he'd have a majority of the votes. This is why there should be a runoff between the top 2 candidates if neither one of them can reach half. One night, one vote, of course that will never happen, and Trump should be thankful for that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." Trump has more votes than Cruz. I love when Cruz guys say stuff like that. 65% of Repulicans don't want Trump blah blah blah!!!! Guess what, even more people don't want Cruz if we are using that logic. Notice also that Cruz doesn't have the "majority". You've also got to be kidding me if you think John Kasich, "Mr Adult in the Room cant stand Trump" is somehow staying in it to collude with Trump to get Trump the nomination. He is only staying in for selfish reasons, one of them being that he thinks he'll get the nod if nobody gets to 1237.

Empire State, it's obvious, Trump support has stayed about the same 35-37% as it has from the beginning while Cruz really started taking off when a lot of the others bowed out, and that's even with Trumps SuperPacs 24/7 coverage of him. You are kidding yourself if you think Trump would magically have a majority if it was only him and Cruz in the race from the beginning. And yes, all Kasich staying in the race is doing is helping Trump. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." All I have been seeing for about the last six pages or so is more speculation and bickering. If Cruz this, if Trump that ad infinitum.. There are quite a few delegates left to be selected by the states that have not had primaries as of yet. Two runners still have a chance to collect enough delegates to win on the first ballot and that is in a nutshell all we know for sure at this time. No one really knows how those votes turn out until they are cast and writing about each candidates shortcomings (in your mind) isn't likely to sway anyone else, it will only detract from the ultimate candidates chances when the real election running begins by either alienating the R base to the selected candidate or giving the D's more ammo to use against him. I am going to vote for anyone but Hill or Bern as I feel either of them will complete the destruction of the land we love.

Yes. Infighting and pointless speculation, which does nothing to aid us in keeping another leftist fool out of the White House.

I'm going to repeat it every single time a Cruz supporter says any phrase similar to "He's our best shot", or "The will of the people is heard loud and clear". Because somebody needs to inject reality into the fantasy. Might as well be me. And if those numbers haven't sank in after 50 times, then perhaps you need to keep seeing them until they do. "What ifs" are great. Sometimes they even come true. But the "what is" is the most important. One in the hand vs. two in the bush and all of that.

hello darkness my old friend |
They only way this works out for us is if Trump and Cruz get together on the same ticket. I am a Cruz supporter but I will vote for Trump. It would be easier of Trump could shut his gaping maw so Cruz, Rubio or who ever could stomach the demotion to VP.

Who knows what would have happened. Maybe Cruz would have never gotten out of the gate if Trump wasn't around to stomp Bush, Walker, Rubio, etc. Its going to be interesting to see how this all plays out over the next two months.

You have serious reading comprehension problems ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." Ronald Reagan

Nope. I can read just fine. Here. I'll draw you a picture. It's not in crayon, so I hope you you can still follow.

I know it's a real hard concept for your tiny little brain to comprehend, but the numbers are obvious, without 17 candidates, Trump would have been done long ago, which explains how well Cruz has been doing in states like Wisconsin that should have been Trump territory since the others dropped out. Of course by your logic we should just give up and let Hillary be president. You can't claim anybody is "the will of the people" if they are not getting more than half the vote. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." Yes, and it can't be over soon enough. But that is the whole point, this would have been a totally different scenario if there hadn't been so many people in the pool to begin with. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The problem with our Liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, it's that they know so much that isn't so." Yes. Yes they are. Trump has 8,197,535 votes. Cruz has 6,263,349. Now I graduated before common core was taught, but to the best of my understanding that means Trump has 1,934,186 more than Cruz. So tell us again how those numbers prove that not only that Cruz is the best option to run against Hillary, but that the voters don't want Trump.
Got it. So Cruz isn't the will of the people either, since he has fewer votes, by a substantial margin, than Trump.
That's not my logic. That's your logic translating my logic, which explains why that statement is so absurd.

The argument isn't that Trump doesn't have *more* votes/delegates... it's that (so far) he doesn't have *enough* delegates for him to flat-out win. *If* that's still true come convention time, then "the will of the people" will be for a contested convention. Otherwise they would've voted for him in greater numbers. Those who forget the pasta are condemned to reheat it.

We are not a democracy and republics don't care about the popular vote. Cruz isn't loved, but he's the second choice for a majority of the people who have cast their votes and who's candidates are now out of the race and your numbers fail to recognize them. I'm not talking about re-voting, but if you just asked the people who have voted who do you support now? You want to make this black and white, but it's not. I don't know what will happen in Cleveland, but the will of the people will not be trampled on with Trump or Cruz.
