We've heard enough from you. I've asked members to cut out all this adversarial stuff, all this Trump vs Cruz crap. Just cut it out. We all need to pray that it's one of these two guys. I'm sick and tired of the infighting and I am not alone.

Continuing with your flawed logic, you must vote for Hillary because she is #1 and has the most primary votes. Please find a valid argument.

My logic is not flawed at all. Not in any way, shape or form. Nor can you really disprove it, because it is so simple, so common sense, that even you shouldn't be able to twist it.

I don't know how I can make it any easier for some of you to understand.

In the most simple of terms, the person who gets the most votes wins, right? And the primary process is a good indication of how the general election will go, I would say mostly based on turn out.

Historically, the person with the highest percentage of the popular vote in the primary ends up with the highest percentage of the popular vote in the general. Deny it all you want, but it's true much more often than it's not.

Right now that person is Hillary. Closely followed by Trump. Sanders is close behind him. Cruz is way back in fourth by almost a double digit percentage and several million votes.

Unless he moves his numbers significantly by the end of the primary process, he's not our "best chance".

"My logic" as you claim has nothing to do with who to vote for, and certainly nothing to do with voting for Hillary. "My logic" simply relies on hard data, in this case the primary results, over polling data.

Now, go back through history and prove "My logic" wrong. Find me a candidate that finished the primary process in a fourth place position who won the Presidency. Just one. Whenever you're ready.

I'm not bashing Cruz. I like him as my second choice. But the facts are the facts. His numbers need to move significantly for him to best the current front runner in the general. Unless something extremely unusual is going on that I don't know about, this is the way history says it goes. Numbers are all available online. Google them.

Ugh. I really wish Trump would stop with this type of rhetoric. I really don't think it helps anyone, at least not on the Republican side.

It's gonna be either Trump or Cruz. I can't see how it can be anyone else even considering how despicable and duplicitous the RNC appears to be. I just don't believe anyone other than Ted or Don will walk out of that Convention with the nomination.

This is where the "fine print" might come into play. I don't think anyone has actually dropped out of the race, just suspended their campaign.

What Does It Mean To Suspend a Campaign?

The phrase has been employed at least as far back as the 1970s and continues to serve as the most popular way for candidates to end their primary bids without closing down their campaign committees.

I won't pretend like the party may have plans down the road that will demonstrate otherwise, but I saw that interview and Priebus clarified his "running" statement a few sentences later to specifically indicate that it would be one of the *three* candidates presently running, i.e. Trump, Cruz, and Kasich.

I heard on the radio that Cruz and Trump have to agree on any rule changes to the convention. There is currently a rule that someone has to win 8 states to be considered, so if this is in fact true then Rubio, Kasich, and of course Ryan are out of consideration unless Trump and Cruz agree to it. That should give us some hope, right?

quote:
While Trump and Cruz are locked in a bitter battle, aides to both men tell MSNBC it is in their mutual interest to keep Kasich off the ballot. The convention rules control who is on that ballot — and thus eligible to win the nomination.

"I expect the Rules Committee to require a level of support that would leave only two candidates on the ballot at the convention," a senior Cruz Campaign aide told MSNBC.

That committee, which writes the rules governing an open convention, is made up of 112 Republican delegates from around the country. Operatives for Cruz and Trump say they will have major sway over what the committee does.

"The Cruz people and Trump people are fighting hard to make sure their hard-core delegates get on the committee," said Barry Bennett, a Trump adviser.

Bennett said a voting bloc favoring the two leading candidates will run the committee.

"We'll be successful getting at least a majority — or supermajority," he projected, counting Trump and Cruz delegates together.

Both campaigns are backing a rule that would require candidates to achieve a minimum amount of support to get on the ballot, which could block Kasich in Cleveland. That would effectively end his campaign.

Kasich cannot mathematically win the nomination through the primaries, so his only hope is to win on a convention ballot.

"The committee is not going to oppose" a rule that the two leading campaigns support, Bennett added...(it goes on for a while)

Not sure if the candidates have to agree to the rules or not. It would not make sense if that was the case. The current rule of needing 8 primary state wins (The Romney Rule) was put in place in 2012 to screw the Rand Paul folks. The previous rule was 5 primary states. The rules are set and voted upon by the rules committee. They **may** have to be ratified by a plurality of delegates at the convention, but I may be mistaken on that one. I don't think the candidates themselves have any say on rule changes.

However, the rules committee is made up of delegates, which are supporters of Trump and Cruz. So the candidates are indirectly approving of the changes. I am sure the rules committee delegates are coached ahead of time for what is and what is not acceptable from the campaign's point of view.

I hope the Republican Party, Cruz & Trump will rise above the bickering & focus on the goal of bringing our country back. 8 years of neglect by the numbskull & a very real possibility the Beast or the Commie will complete the disaster.

I dislike the fact this is the best we have, I dislike even more the folks on the right that will choose to stay home and allow traitors to win.

Between the Cruz & Trump threads, I hope we merge to keep a common goal, no Beast or Communist in '16. We want the same goal.

Things I never dreamed I'd see:

An incompetent, racist, anti-American leftist radical presiding in the Oval Office.

The female half of a grifter couple, who let four brave Americans die in Benghazi, and is under criminal investigation by the FBI, running as the Democrat nominee for President of the United States.

It's not a nightmare. It is reality in 2016.

Do we really want to tear into one another about whether Donald Trump or Ted Cruz should be the next president? My choice is Trump, but I would vote for the lint out of Ted Cruz's navel over Hillary Clinton.

Kasich just needs to fucking disappear already. Let the big dogs duke it out without his Fido ass nipping at their balls. The fact that this is the GOP's strategy for getting their boy in office or trying to bar all others is just disgusting. He hasn't a hope in Hell, and everyone knows it. We don't need Mitt (or rather, Willard Milton... yeah, gotta hide that WASPyness) MkII.
