I believe in the principle of Due Process |
This sounds positively Clintonian. They didn't have any problem with BJ. They liked their crook better than our crook. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Did anyone catch this part?
"demob happy" http://www.collinsdictionary.c.../english/demob-happy I had to look it up to verify, but it's Brit slang for what we US military guys would call "Shortimer's Disease or Shortimer's Attitude" or what students would call "Senioritis". I've maintained for some time now that Obama simply doesn't give a flying fuck anymore and has essentially given up. Hence him spending 51 whole seconds on Brussels before running off to watch baseball with that butcher Raul Castro. I CANNOT WAIT for this asshole's final day in office.

He keeps saying how there is no way for Trump to win the national election, that he's going to lose Utah to Clinton, glossing over the fact that he only won Utah because of Romney and Beck's Mormon support. He also keeps saying that Trump can't win because a high number of Republican's don't vote for him, neglecting to mention that a higher number won't for himself. Other word games he plays, etc. For example, he goes on and on about Trump donating to democrats in the past but convieniently leaves out the fact that Trump has donated to Cruz. I had a lot more respect for Cruz before this election race.

I like Mr. Trump. I get a kick out of handles he puts on candidates...like mob nicknames: Lyin' Ted, Little Marco even he likes to be called, The Don. Cannot wait for the Don to lay into the commie, and the war criminal, the Beast.

wishing we were congress |
I never ever dreamed I would be so disappointed in Romney and Ryan. This election has been one big surprise after another. Listen to Paul Ryan (he completely doesn't get it) http://bigstory.ap.org/article...-distrust-government "When passions flare, ugliness is sometimes inevitable. But we shouldn't accept ugliness as the norm," Ryan told an invited audience of congressional interns on Capitol Hill. "If someone has a bad idea, we tell them why our idea is better. We don't insult them into agreeing with us," he said. "We don't resort to scaring you, we dare to inspire you." "We are slipping into being a divisive country," he said. "If we're going to keep this beautiful American experiment going we're going to have to stay unified." Some of Ryan's comments nearly echoed remarks last week from President Barack Obama, who voiced dismay at the violence and "vulgar and divisive rhetoric" of this presidential race, and issued a plea for civility. He said that in the past he'd referred to certain people as "takers," but then thought more about how people could become mired in poverty and dependent on government help. "To label a whole group of Americans that way was wrong," he said. He also said he had become a late convert to the need for reforming the criminal justice system and pledged action on the House floor. "Redemption is a beautiful thing," Ryan said. "We need to make redemption something that is valued in our culture and our society and in our laws." ************************ To keep this "beautiful American experiment going" we are going to have to crush the Democrats and anyone who isn't fighting them. Ryan clearly is not the leader we need. If he keeps talking like this, he isn't even going to be a junior member of the team we need.

Iron Bottom, c'mon man. Show a little respect. The guy is on record fighting for and helping win cases when it comes to the Second Amendment. I understand he ain't your first choice. That does not mean you have to talk shit and make yourself look stupid. What has your guy done to further our 2nd Amendment rights? There is one issue I care most about, the right to keep and bear arms...without it all other freedoms are meaningless. I have no doubt Ted Cruz would defend my right. I hope Trump would do the same. I think he would but actions speak louder than words. Save the venom for those who truly deserve it.(Democrats) I would GLADLY vote for Trump or Cruz. This animosity is likely to breed even more god damned goldilocks republicans and hand the win to the demonrats once again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

No problem with what he said to me. It's what I saw as well. The other thread might be more receptive to this line of thinking........ You know the Ted thread. We have left that for all things great about Ted. Sorry man I just at don't feel I need to worship the guy especially the more stupid shit he does and the people he is with. I use to actually like the guy now it's hard not to puke. Sorry that's my take. When this election cycle started he was my first choice. Now I would vote for him as a anti democrat vote only. ------------------------------ Knowing is half the battle! "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." Thomas Jefferson

Ryan doesn't get it for many reasons. First, he started by describing the overall problem as one that will lead to less support for government institutions. Now, that's a good one. It is not incivility that causes the loss of respect for institutions, it is unresponsiveness. Just how long has Congress' approval rating been at about 12%? The answer for the institution of Congress lies within Congress and the manner in which the voters are relegated to the position of not mattering to the insiders. Second, Ryan is way off on how or around what we need to unify. It is not that we need to be more civil. Especially at this point, we need to be more robust and Congress and leaders need to realize that the freely-expressed greed and self-interest of one person or group is what encourages the healthy tension in society that creates stability. We need more speech - even if it's a bit raucous. The unity we need is the type that lets each say what is on his/her mind with tolerance for other opinions and manner of speech. Before the Civil War, the House of Representatives created rules that made saying the word "slavery" out of order. So, people bottled up their conversation and debate in the name of civility. But, it just turned into another outlet that was suppressed. Members started talking about the "traditions of the South" as a euphemism. And, the faux civility wore quickly through the veneer of civilization. The answer is not in seeking unity but in seeing responsiveness in our institutions. Pssst. Congress and its listening ineptitude as well as that of the GOPe is causing a coarseness of rhetoric to try to break through. The voters are saying, "Tap. Tap Tap. Is this thing on?" _______________________________ NRA Life Member NRA Certified Range Safety Officer

Loganspawn, You may not see the issue with ripping apart other candidates but you can damn well believe there will be consequences in a general. When you demonize enough people on you own side you only turn off the people who don't follow politics as you and I do. Our side is its own worst enemy. If you cannot see that maybe you will once we lose enough elections. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance

Who is this "we" that Paul Ryan refers to? Himself, in his government role? That's rich, and displays his terminal arrogance.

No one would accuse Ryan of being a motivational speaker. He delivers words like he is giving a budget report. That Republicans have the basic philosophy in their camp to be inspiring is a great point. But, "inspiring" people is not Ryan's strong suit. _______________________________ NRA Life Member NRA Certified Range Safety Officer
